An earmuffs system for noise reduction including an external microphone used in combination with active noise cancellation technology for the reduction of wind or other noises typically experienced while riding a vehicle such as a motorcycle, snow machine or ATV, the earmuffs system including a first earmuff including a first speaker and a first microphone therein; a second earmuff electrically coupled to the first ear muff, the second ear muff including a second speaker and a second microphone therein; noise cancellation circuitry for receiving first sounds from the first microphone and the second microphone and processing the first sounds by in part canceling the first sounds to form a first sound output that is provided from the first speaker and the second speaker; a third microphone placed external to the first earmuff, the third microphone supplying second sounds for the first speaker to output as a second sound output without the second sounds undergoing noise cancellation processing; and a fourth microphone placed external to the second earmuff, the fourth microphone supplying third sounds for the second speaker to output as a third sound output without the third sounds undergoing noise cancellation processing.

HEARING PROTECTION DEVICE

A hearing protection device has a base (11) configured for connecting to a lateral portion of a protective helmet (1), an ear cup (20) configured for covering an ear of a user, and a support (30) connecting the ear cup (20) to the base (11). The support (30) has a first arm (31) and a second arm (32) each having an upper part connected to the base (11) by at least one connection member (50) and a lower part connected to the ear cup (20). The at least one connection member (50) is elastically deformable to allow relative movement of the upper part of the first arm (31) relative to the upper part of the second arm (32). The hearing protection device is movable between an active position, in which the ear cup (20) is configured to cover the ear of the user, and an inactive position, in which the ear cup (20) is configured to be spaced apart from the ear of the user.

A soft armor panel is provided by work softening a panel formed of a ballistic material. The panel also includes slip planes between adjacent ply groups, the adjacent ply groups remaining unconnected or substantially unconnected at the slip plane. The soft, or conformable, body armor, is resistant to various projectile threats, in which the panel is made by work-softening an otherwise rigid panel. The soft armor panel includes a work softened lamination of a plurality of ply groups. Each ply group comprises one or more layers, each layer comprising a composite material of fibers embedded in a matrix material. A slip plane is disposed between at least one set of adjacent ply groups, such that the adjacent ply groups remain unconnected or substantially unconnected at the slip plane. The softened ballistic panel retains significant ballistic properties, is light weight and can be readily conformed to various torso configurations.
