A material composition for use in construction includes calcium sulfate hemihydrate (CSH), calcium carbonate (CC) powder, hydrophobic dispersible polymer, and a retarder comprising modified amino acid. Further, a method of using material composition in one or more construction activities includes adding the material composition to water in a mixer, the material composition comprises calcium sulfate hemihydrate (CSH), calcium carbonate (CC) powder, hydrophobic dispersible polymer, and a retarder comprising modified amino acid. The method further includes blending the material composition with water in the mixer for a predetermined amount of time to produce a jointing compound having a predetermined consistency and workability.

Reducing hydrochloric acid in cement kilns

The description relates to reducing hydrochloric acid in cement kilns. In one aspect, an aqueous copper-based chloride remediator is introduced into contact with combustion gases from a cement kiln. Injection is made into a defined introduction zone under conditions effective for HCl emissions control wherein the temperature is within the range of from 300 F. to 800 F., preferably from 550 F. to 750 F. The resulting gases are discharged from the defined zone following sufficient reaction time to reduce the HCl concentration in the gases.

Mineral recovery enhanced desalination (MRED) process for desalination and recovery of commodity minerals

A novel process for treatment of low quality or brackish water that allows increased recovery of high quality water, recovers commodity minerals and reduces the volume of water and mass of solids that are disposed from the process.
