A personal protection system for providing a sterile barrier around medical/surgical personnel. The system includes a helmet over which a hood or a toga suspended. A microphone, an amplifier and a speaker are mounted to the helmet. Speech of the individual wearing the personal protection system is picked up by the microphone and amplified speech is broadcast by the speaker. The speaker is outwardly directed so as to broadcast the speech out through the hood or toga covering the helmet.

A helmet includes the first pad in contact with an occipital region of a rider, and each of the second pads in contact with the cheeks of the rider. Since the first pad moves from the first occipital region-contact position to the second occipital region-contact position as well as the second pad moves from the first cheek-contact position to the second cheek-contact position, the helmet is moved relative to the rider's head by a predetermined distance.

A protective sports helmet includes a cap structure having a plurality of structurally independent cap portions and mutually connected to flexible interconnecting members such that the helmet has at least one overall configuration of minimum dimensions when not worn, with the parts of the cap mutually adjacent to each other, separate from an operating condition having maximum dimensions when worn. An inflatable helmet including a plurality of elongate inflatable members, each elongate inflatable member having at least one chamber wall defining an inflatable chamber; wherein at least two adjacent elongate inflatable members are in fluid communication with each other; and wherein the plurality of elongate inflatable members are inflatable so as to adjust the inflatable helmet from a collapsed state to an inflated state in which at least one pair of adjacent elongate members abut one another along at least a portion of their respective chamber walls.

A bicycle helmet that fits over a surface of a head of a user generally includes a segment of flexible cell structures that form a radial honeycomb matrix movable between a folded condition where each side of the segment is disposed generally parallel and an expanded condition where the radial honeycomb matrix of the segment is configured to be expanded at least partially over the head of the user and arranged radially relative to the surface of the head of the user. The bicycle helmet includes a first and second side frame disposed respectively at the first and second ends of the honeycomb matrix.

A personal protection system for providing a sterile barrier around medical/surgical personnel. The system includes a helmet over which a hood or a toga suspended. The helmet has a chin bar that extends forward of the face of the individual wearing the system. At least one manually actuated control for regulating one aspect of operation of the system is mounted to the chin bar. Sometimes the control is a button that is depressed to control the operation of a helmet mounted fan that draws air into the hood or toga. A microphone may also be mounted to the chin bar.

A foldable helmet is provided. The helmet includes a plurality of struts hingedly interconnected thereby enabling the struts to splay out from a closed packed state. Each strut includes a hinge along a length of the strut for folding the strut and a plurality of cutouts allowing the strut to bow in a direction opposite a fold direction of the hinge.

The invention relates to a protective helmet comprising a plurality of segments, at least two of said segments (106, 107) being connected together by way of a sliding connection for sliding purposes, said segments connected by said connection having complementary and approximately parallel indentations and protrusions, characterized in that, for each sliding connection, said protrusions of at least one of the segments are connected together by way of a transverse bar.

The present invention relates to a helmet and protector elements for protecting a user's head. The helmet being flexible and/or foldable and comprising a head-fitting element (2), having an outer surface and an inner surface, a plurality of protector elements (3) arranged and attached at preselected positions on the outer surface of the head-fitting element to provide a helmet, which has at least a front portion (11), a middle portion (12) and a back portion (13) that are separated by a gap (4). The protector element when attached to a helmet provides an absorption of a force received during an impact to a level reducing the risk of a trauma of a user.
