METHODS FOR RECYCLING USED ENGINE OIL
20230250021 · 2023-08-10 ·

Disclosed herein are improved methods for recycling used engine oil (UEO). The method includes steps of, mixing UEO, a superplasticizer, and water to give a suspension; mixing aggregates, ordinary Portland cement (OPC), fly ash, silicate fume, and the water to give a first mixture; adding the suspension to the first mixture to give a second mixture; and molding and curing the second mixture into a concrete. The thus produced concrete contains up to 5% of UEO (by weight of total cementitious material) and exhibits comparable compressive properties as to that of ordinary concrete.

ADVANCED LEAD-FREE RADIATION PROTECTION MATERIALS UTILIZING MODIFIED BRINE SLUDGE COMPOSITION AND THE PROCESS THEREOF

The novel process enables designing of raw materials and processing parameters, enabling synergistic and simultaneous chemical reactions among the various reactants of the design mix of chemical precursor of brine sludge which includes barium sulphate, magnesium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, sodium chloride, silica, aluminum containing compounds necessary for developing highly efficient shielding phases leading to homogenous matrix of shielding materials.

Recycled glass pozzolan for concrete

An apparatus for producing pozzolanic material from consumer waste includes a glass separator unit to remove glass material from the waste and a size reduction unit downstream the glass separator unit. The glass separator unit includes a tubular outer member and an inner helical member extending inwardly from the inner surface of the tubular outer member and defining an open central bore. The tubular outer member and the open central bore define respective coaxial longitudinal axes that are disposed at an angle relative to a horizontal reference plane, with the inlet higher than the outlet. Non-glass/non-ceramic material is output through the open outlet end of tubular outer member utilizing a flow of water. The glass/ceramic material is output to the size reduction unit through the open inlet end of the tubular outer member utilizing the rotating inner helical member of the glass separator unit.

A composition that controls and delays generation of foam in geopolymer pastes, mortars and concretes. Embodiments include a one-part anhydrous formula for the production of geopolymer foam that requires only the addition of water. The formula includes specific and variably designed admixtures that manage a time release delivery of alkali activation components, foaming agents, and blends thereof.

METHODS FOR RE-USING INDUSTRIAL WASTE FOR CARBON SEQUESTRATION AND MAGNESIUM-BASED CEMENTS

Magnesium-based cements (in particular, magnesium oxychloride (MOC) cement) are synthesized with a salt (magnesium chloride for MOC cement), water, and magnesium oxide. In this invention the salt is sourced from a waste brine. To the brine is added a base, for example a hydroxide or magnesium oxide. Carbon dioxide is then bubbled through the brine. Calcium carbonate precipitates out of solution. The brine is then left to cure and form cement. Optionally, calcium carbonate precipitate can be added back to (or left in) the brine prior to curing as a filler.
