Freeze-thaw stable quick-set additive
The present invention provides substantially water free aluminate cement paste compositions that exhibit improved freeze thaw resistance and are storage stable upon being activated on admixture with water or an aqueous liquid. The compositions comprise a deep eutectic solvent mixture of a polar organic carrier component, preferably, glycerol or another hydrogen donor, and an anhydrous cation containing component, such as a metal salt or an onium compound in a paste with an aluminate cement. The compositions can be kept for as long as 30 days or more at room temperature without stabilization and then used to make cementitious coating layers or waterproofing membranes.

Waterless Integral Waterproofing
Described are admixture composition and method for integrally waterproofing cementitious compositions, such as concrete and mortar, wherein an organosilicon compound (e.g., silane) is mixed with animal oil, vegetable oil, or mixture thereof, and defoaming agent. The organosilicon/oil mixtures of the present invention enhances the water repellent efficacy of the organosilicon, even as it displays inherently greater product stability, as compared to emulsion-based (and thus substantial free-water containing) admixture formulations of the prior art. Cementitious materials made in accordance with the present invention demonstrate excellent air consistency and air neutrality.

Dust control formulations
This disclosure describes formulations and methods for dust control, for example, coal topping, a term which refers to the application of liquid products to the top of coal loads, such as those in open topped coal hopper railcars as commonly used today to transport coal. Disclosed herein are wax-based emulsion formulations that accomplish dust control during industrial operations in which dust handling is required.

GRINDING STABILIZING ADDITIVE FOR VERTICAL ROLLER MILLS
Method for grinding a solid in a vertical roller mill (VRM) and a cement composition prepared by the disclosed methods. A method comprises grinding a solid comprising a cement clinker under a water spray in the presence of a grinding stabilizing additive, wherein the grinding stabilizing additive comprises: (i) an alkanol amino acid compound or a disodium or dipotassium salt thereof having the structural formula:
##STR00001##
(ii) a glycol; or a mixture of (i) and (ii), wherein the water spray level is reduced by at least 5% compared to a control. Cement compositions prepared by the disclosed methods have the pre-hydration level (W.sub.k) equal to or less than 1.5%. The values and preferred values of R.sup.1-3 are disclosed herein.
METHOD FOR PROVIDING ZONAL ISOLATION IN AN UNDERGROUND WELLBORE
Slugs of a cement slurry and of a resin composition are injected into an underground wellbore. The resin composition contains at least a curable resin, a filler, a swelling agent, a curing initiator, and a crosslinking retarding agent. The curing initiator activates the curing in response to temperature. The crosslinking retarding agent delays curing of the resin, to permit pumping the composition into the wellbore. After injection, the cement slurry and resin composition are allowed to cure, to create a stacked cement and cured resin column that provides a zonal isolation seal within the wellbore. The resin composition may suitably be an elastomer-forming composition. The cured resin may be swellable by allowing contact with a wellbore fluid.
