STABILIZED REFRACTORY COMPOSITIONS
A refractory composition including refractory aggregate, one or more matrix components, and silicate-coated set accelerator particles. The silicate-coated set accelerator particles can include one more of silicate-coated calcium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium chloride, calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate and calcium sulfate. Suitable silicate coatings include sodium silicate, potassium silicate, lithium silicate and mixtures thereof. A method of recovering an aged refractory composition, a settable composition and a method of manufacturing silicate-coated calcium hydroxide particles are also provided.

Refractory compositions and in situ anti-oxidation barrier layers
A refractory composition for forming a working lining in a metallurgical vessel contains a coarse-grain refractory particle fraction and a fine-grain refractory particle fraction, or at least 0.25% additive calcium oxide, or at least 0.25% titanium dioxide. The coarse-grain refractory particles can include alumina particles, magnesia particles, magnesium aluminate spinel particles, zirconia particles, or doloma particles, or a combination of any of these particles. The fine-grain refractory particles can be comprised of any low-magnesia refractory oxide. The refractory composition can be applied to a metallurgical vessel by spraying, gunning, shotcreting, vibrating, casting, troweling, or positioning preformed refractory shapes, or a combination of any of these techniques. When contacted by molten metal, the molten metal penetrates into the refractory material, wetting the coarse-grain refractory particles, and forming a refractory-metal composite barrier layer that decreases or blocks oxygen transport through the refractory lining.
CMC combustor shell with integral chutes
A combustion assembly for a gas turbine engine may be provided. The combustion assembly may include a ceramic matrix composite combustor shell, which may include a chamber defined by a wall of the ceramic matrix composite combustor shell, and the ceramic matrix composite combustor shell may include a ceramic matrix composite chute integral with the ceramic matrix composite combustor shell. The ceramic matrix composite chute may extend towards a midline of the chamber. A method for fabricating a ceramic matrix composite chute may be provided. At least one chute may be woven in three dimensions into a ceramic preform. A layup tool may be inserted into the chute. The chute may be enlarged with the layup tool. The ceramic preform may be formed into a ceramic matrix composite body, which includes a combustor shell and the chute.
Refractory article and method of making
A refractory article includes a body including a ceramic having an aluminosilicate present in an amount of at least 70 wt % and not greater than 99 wt % for a total weight of the body, and the body further includes a dopant including a Mg-containing oxide compound and a Fe-containing oxide compound, and the dopant is present in an amount within a range including at least 1 wt % and not greater than 12 wt %.
Refractory article and method of making
A refractory article includes a body including a ceramic having an aluminosilicate present in an amount of at least 70 wt % and not greater than 99 wt % for a total weight of the body, and the body further includes a dopant including a Mg-containing oxide compound and a Fe-containing oxide compound, and the dopant is present in an amount within a range including at least 1 wt % and not greater than 12 wt %.

The invention relates to a refractory container 1 for use in a furnace for heat treatment of workpieces, comprising a mat 5 of long fibers that are embedded in a ceramic shell, with the mat 5 being shaped into a container that forms a receiving space for workpieces, and to a green body of such a container 1. Furthermore, advantageous uses of the container 1 as well as a method for manufacturing a green body or container 1 according to the invention are specified.
