A sole structure for an article of footwear includes a forefoot region disposed adjacent an anterior end, a heel region disposed adjacent a posterior end, and a mid-foot region disposed intermediate the forefoot region and the heel region. The sole structure further includes fluid-filled bladder having a first segment extending along a medial side in the heel region, a second segment extending along a lateral side in the heel region, and a web area disposed between the first segment and the second segment. Additionally, the sole structure includes an outer sole member having an upper portion extending from a first end in the forefoot region to a second end in the heel region. The second end of the outer sole member is received on a first side of the web area. The outer sole member also includes a rib extending downwardly from the upper portion and defining a cavity.

A bladder for an article of footwear includes a first barrier layer formed of a first material, and a second barrier layer formed of a second material. The first barrier layer and the second barrier layer cooperate to form a fluid-filled chamber having a first fluid-filled segment extending along an arcuate path, a second fluid-filled segment extending from a first end of the first fluid-filled segment to a first distal end along a first longitudinal axis, and a third fluid-filled segment extending from a second end of the first fluid-filled segment to a second distal end along a second longitudinal axis parallel to the first longitudinal axis. The first barrier layer and the second barrier layer may be joined together define a web area connecting each of the first segment, the second segment, and the third segment.

A sole structure for an article of footwear includes a forefoot region disposed adjacent an anterior end, a heel region disposed adjacent a posterior end, and a mid-foot region disposed intermediate the forefoot region and the heel region. An article of footwear has a midsole assembly that includes a fluid-filled bladder element having a substantially arc-shaped heel portion and having a lateral arm portion and a medial arm portion spaced from the lateral arm portion. Each of the arm portions extend from the heel portion. The bladder element is configured to be positioned with the heel portion in the heel region of midsole assembly, and the arm portions extending from the heel region to a forefoot region along a peripheral region. A method of manufacturing and a mold assembly for such an article of footwear are provided.

An article of footwear has a midsole assembly that includes a fluid-filled bladder element having a substantially arc-shaped heel portion and having a lateral arm portion and a medial arm portion spaced from the lateral arm portion. Each of the arm portions extend from the heel portion. The bladder element is configured to be positioned with the heel portion in the heel region of midsole assembly, and the arm portions extending from the heel region to a forefoot region along a peripheral region. A method of manufacturing and a mold assembly for such an article of footwear are provided.

The invention relates to an item of footwear in which is provided a mid-sole (10) with features that provide comfort to the wearer when walking. An item of footwear comprising: a sole (1) comprising a mid-sole (10), the mid-sole having a first major surface (11) for facing the foot of a wearer, a second major surface (12) opposite the first, the mid-sole (10) having an inner edge (13) corresponding to the inside of a wearer's foot and an outer edge (14) corresponding to the outside of a wearer's foot; and a securing means for securing the item of footwear to a foot of a wearer such that the first surface (11) of the sole (1) contacts the foot, wherein: the mid-sole (10) has formed therein a plurality of generally transverse grooves (20) and a generally longitudinal primary groove (30a), thereby dividing the sole (1) into an array of lands (50); and the primary groove (30a) is substantially parallel to the outer edge (14) of the sole (1) over a majority of the length of the sole (1) and defines with 15 the transverse grooves (20) a plurality of lands (50).

A fluid-filled chamber includes first subchamber having a substantially U-shape. The fluid-filled chamber also includes a second subchamber having a substantially U-shape and being spaced apart from the first subchamber in a direction extending along a longitudinal axis of the fluid-filled chamber.

An article of footwear includes an upper defining a foot-receiving cavity with a heel region, and a heel support device extending around the rear of a heel region from a lateral side to a medial side. The heel support device may include a plurality of slats and a base, the plurality of slats providing a progressive gradient of lengths and/or widths, and/or one or more pegs extending from the device for attachment to a footwear upper, and/or an elongated tip that may be disposed in a cavity of an extension of a heel collar of the upper.

An article of footwear includes a footwear upper defining at least a portion of an ankle opening and including a flexible covering, a sole structure secured to and underlying the footwear upper, and a device including a control bar and a base. The control bar includes a center segment rearward of the ankle opening, a first side arm extending downwardly and forwardly from the center segment at a medial side of the footwear upper, and a second side arm extending downwardly and forwardly from the center segment at a lateral side of the footwear upper. The base is connected to both of the first side arm and the second side arm such that the center segment, the first side arm, the second side arm, and the base define a void therebetween.
