Glazing Material

A glazing material for producing a glazed ceramic body, in which at a first temperature T.sub.1, the glazing material has a viscosity of more than 10.sup.2.5 Pa.Math.s, in particular more than 10.sup.4.0 Pa.Math.s, preferably more than 10.sup.5.6 Pa.Math.s and particularly preferably more than 10.sup.7.0 Pa.Math.s, and, which at a second temperature T.sub.2, which is higher than the first temperature, a viscosity of less than 10.sup.9 Pa.Math.s, in particular less than 10.sup.7 Pa.Math.s and preferably less than 10.sup.5.6 Pa.Math.s. The glazing material can be used for glazing a non-densely sintered substrate material.

Method for batch casting high-fluidity high-performance concrete and low-fluidity high-performance concrete

A method of batch-casting high-fluidity high performance concrete and low-fluidity high performance concrete, wherein the method is capable of batch-casting high-fluidity high performance concrete for forming a girder portion of a bridge and low-fluidity high performance concrete for forming a deck plate portion of the bridge by using a concrete casting apparatus. Accordingly, the construction cost can be reduced and the construction period can be shortened. In addition, because a cold joint does not occur, durability can be improved, and thus the life of the bridge can be increased.

Cement compositions containing phyllosilicate and methods of use

Cement compositions containing a hydraulic cement, a synthetic phyllosilicate (e.g. Laponite®), and silica flour. The cement compositions may optionally include other additives such as an expandable agent, a defoamer, and a fluid loss controller. Cement slurries and wellbore cements made therefrom are also specified. The inclusion of the synthetic phyllosilicate has enhanced the mechanical strength, improved the density homogeneity, as well as decreased the permeability of the wellbore cement, making it suitable for cementing oil and gas wells under high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) conditions.

Gypsum composition comprising uncooked starch having mid-range viscosity, and methods and products related thereto

Disclosed are product (e.g., board), slurry, and methods relating to an uncooked starch that can be used to enhance strength in one or more gypsum layers in the board. The uncooked starch has a hot water viscosity of from about 20 BU to about 300 BU according to the HWVA method, and/or a mid-range peak viscosity of from about 120 Brabender Units to about 1000 Brabender Units.

CEMENT MIXTURES FOR PLUGGING HONEYCOMB BODIES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

A cement mixture for applying to a honeycomb body that includes: (i) inorganic ceramic particles; (ii) an inorganic binder; (iii) an organic binder comprising one or more of a hydrophilic polymer and a hydrophilic additive; and (iv) an aqueous liquid vehicle. The cement mixture exhibits a cement viscosity of less than 7000 Pa.Math.s at a shear rate of less than 0.1/sec and greater than 25 Pa.Math.s at a shear rate from 20/sec to 100/sec.

Process for manufacturing a component for an emissions treatment unit

In a process for manufacturing a component for an emissions treatment unit, green ceramic product is extruded through a die to form an extrusion having a honeycomb substrate structure with an array of parallel, linear tubular cells extending along its length, the cells bounded by walls dividing adjacent cells from one another. A ceramic unit is obtained by cutting off, curing and firing a length of the extrusion a length of the extrusion. Following the firing, a mixture of a flowable, uncured curable material and a particulate metal component is injected from an end of the ceramic unit into selected ones of the cells so as to block the selected cells over at least a part of their lengths while maintaining all of the walls of the ceramic unit. The injected mixture is then cured to render it solid.

Accelerator comprising starch, and related board, slurries, and methods

An accelerator for accelerating the rate of hydration of calcined gypsum is disclosed. The accelerator comprises calcium sulfate dihydrate particles and a starch. The starch has a cold water solubility of at least about 25% (e.g., at least about 35%) and a viscosity of about 25 Brabender Units (BU) or less when the starch is in a 30% aqueous slurry at 92° C. Also disclosed are a method of preparing an accelerator, method of hydrating stucco to form set gypsum, slurry, and method of making gypsum board.
