Rocket motor with concentric propellant structures for shock mitigation
A solid rocket motor includes a first solid propellant and a second solid propellant at least partially surrounding the first solid propellant. The second solid propellant is resistant to fragment impact and the first solid propellant has a higher impulse than the second solid propellant.
Enhanced Slag Formation For Copper-Containing Gas Generants
Gas generants comprising copper are provided that have improved slagging ability. In certain aspects, the gas generants include a fuel, an oxidizer comprising basic copper nitrate, and a large particle size endothermic slag-forming component, such as aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH).sub.3). The gas generants may be cool burning, e.g., having a maximum flame temperature at combustion (T.sub.c)about 1,900K (1,627 C.). The disclosure also provides methods of enhancing slag formation for a gas generant composition that comprises copper. Such methods enhance slag formation during combustion of the gas generant composition by at least 50%.

Thermal insulation foam having low adhesion for high explosives
Thermal insulation foam for high explosives is applied to the inner surface of warheads and guided weapons filled with high explosives, thus maximizing the storability and survivability of warheads and guided weapons despite changes in temperature and external environmental factors such as impacts. The thermal insulation foam includes porous microspheres, a prepolymer having a hydroxyl group, and an isocyanate, wherein the prepolymer includes any one selected from among a polybutadiene-, a polyester-, a polyether-, a polysiloxane-, and a fluorine-based prepolymer.
EXOTHERMIC EXPANDABLE COMPOSITIONS
An expandable, exothermic gel-forming composition that is predominately useful in the consumer products and medical industries. More particularly, it relates to the use of expandable particulate exothermic gel-forming compositions with efficient and long-lasting heat production for heating surfaces and objects without the need for electricity or combustible fuel.
Water resistance additive for particulate ammonium nitrate-fuel oil (ANFO) explosives
The present invention provides for the use of at least one oil soluble polymer comprising linear polymethylene sequences with an average of 10 to 40 consecutive methylene groups to improve the water resistance of an explosive composition comprising particulate ammonium nitrate and a fuel oil, said linear polymethylene sequences with in average 10 to 40 consecutive methylene groups may be either in the main chain or in the side chains of the oil soluble polymer.
HYPERGOLIC COMPOSITION
The present invention provides kits and compositions for e.g., hypergolic ignition of rocket propellant. The disclosed kits and the compositions comprise inter alia a fuel, a gelling agent, and an ignition agent; wherein the ignition agent is stably dissolved within the fuel.
