Amphiphilic asphaltene ionic liquids as demulsifiers for heavy petroleum crude oil-water emulsions
Provided herein are amphiphilic asphaltene ionic liquids and methods of making and using the amphiphilic asphaltene ionic liquids, e.g. as demulsifiers for petroleum crude oil-water emulsions.
Stabilization and hydrogenation methods for microbial-derived olefins
Processes and systems for stabilization and subsequent hydrogenation of an immiscible olefin are described. In certain embodiments, the hydrogenation is conducted in a fixed bed reactor in presence of a hydrogenation catalyst.

Compositions of oxygenated amines and quinone methides as antifoulants for vinylic monomers
Described are compositions and methods for inhibiting polymerization of a monomer (e.g., styrene) composition a quinone methide polymerization retarder and an oxygen-containing amine compound that is a tertiary amine or hydroxylamine. In a mixture, the oxygen-containing amine compound improves the efficacy of the quinone methide polymerization retarder and provides greater antipolymerant activity. In turn, the mixture reduces or prevents apparatus fouling and improves the purity of monomer streams.
Oxygenated aminophenol compounds and methods for preventing monomer polymerization
Described are compounds, compositions, and methods that include a nitrogen- and oxygen-containing aromatic compound, such as an aminophenol-based compound, which can be used for inhibiting polymerization of a monomer (e.g., styrene) composition. The compound includes a tertiary amine group wherein the nitrogen is attached to carbon-containing groups, and at least one of oxygen atom separated from the nitrogen by one or more carbon atoms. The antipolymerant can provide excellent antipolymerant activity in a monomer-containing composition.

Methods and apparatuses for purifying crude propane
Systems and methods for purifying crude propane streams are provided herein. For example, in some embodiments, methods are provided including passing a crude propane stream to a fixed bed reactor containing a Beta zeolite configured to reduce the propylene oxide content of the crude propane stream and produce a propylene-treated stream and contacting the propylene-treated stream with an acetaldehyde scavenger to produce a treated propane stream. In some embodiments, methods are provided including passing a crude propane stream through a water wash system to provide a treated propane stream having a lower propylene oxide content, a lower acetaldehyde content, or both.
