Article of footwear with dynamic support
An article of footwear with a dynamic support system that controls arrays of tiles in the upper of the footwear to adjust the level of support provided in different regions of the upper. Sensors in the sole of the footwear, in the upper of the footwear and/or in an article worn by the wearer of the footwear measure the level of stress or other characteristics and provide input to one or more microprocessors that control motors located in the sole or in the upper of the footwear. When the motors are activated, they may compress or loosen arrays of tiles to adjust the stiffness of the upper in one or more regions of the upper.
UPPER FOR A SHOE WITH A BALL CONTACT AREA
An upper for a shoe, in particular a sports shoe, comprising a ball contact area comprising a plurality of protrusions. Each protrusion of the plurality of protrusions has an elongated shape with a longitudinal axis, a sole facing side portion and an instep facing side portion. Each protrusion of the plurality of protrusions is elastically bendable such that each protrusion is configured to bend substantially in a perpendicular direction to the longitudinal axis upon contact with a ball, and such that each of the plurality of protrusions is configured to bend such that the instep facing side portion touches an outer surface of the upper or an adjacent protrusion of the plurality of protrusions.
FOOTWEAR MIDSOLE WITH WARPED LATTICE STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
A midsole for an article of footwear including a three-dimensional mesh including interconnected unit cells and methods of making the same. The interconnected unit cells each include a plurality of struts defining a three-dimensional shape. The interconnected unit cells are connected at nodes having a valence number defined by the number of struts connected at that node. The valence number of the nodes may vary to provide customized characteristics to zones or portions of the midsole. The plurality of interconnected unit cells may be organized in a warped cubic lattice structure. The warped cubic lattice structure and the size/shape of interconnected unit cells may vary to provide customized characteristics to zones or portions of the midsole. The three-dimensional mesh may be customized based on a biometric data profile for an individual, or group of individuals. The midsole may be manufactured using an additive manufacturing process.
Foot Support Components for Articles of Footwear Including Multiple Flexible Projections at the Ground-Facing Surface
Foot support components for footwear include a sole member made from one or more parts and including a base surface. A plurality of medial side primary traction elements (e.g., soccer cleats) and a plurality of lateral side primary traction elements (e.g., soccer cleats) extend in a direction away from the base surface. A central space is defined between interior extents (e.g., interior-most surfaces) of the plurality of medial and lateral side primary traction elements, and this central space may be free of primary traction elements (e.g., free of cleats). A projection field comprising a plurality of projections is located at least partially in the central space. These projections can readily bend under the weight of the user and help provide better feel for a ball, e.g., by transmitting force from the ball to the wearer's foot and providing audible feedback when contacting the ball.
Shoe
Described is a shoe, in particular an athletic shoe. The shoe can include a sole and a shoe upper. The shoe upper can include (a.) a lateral portion; (b.) a medial portion; and (c.) intermediate portion between the lateral portion and the medial portion. The intermediate portion can include a cupped portion uncoated by a first coating portion on the lateral portion and a second coating portion on the medial portion. When the shoe upper is separate from the sole at least a majority of the cupped portion may be cupped above surrounding areas of the shoe upper.
Material for shoe upper
Described are materials for a shoe upper, in particular for soccer shoes, with a particularly low weight. The material includes an inner polyurethane layer, an outer polyurethane layer, and a textile reinforcing layer. The textile reinforcing layer is arranged between the inner polyurethane layer and the outer polyurethane layer. The inner polyurethane layer and the outer polyurethane layer comprise thermoset polyurethane. The textile reinforcing layer comprises apertures through which the inner polyurethane layer and the outer polyurethane layer are connected to each other.
ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR WITH INNER AND OUTER MIDSOLE LAYERS
An article of footwear comprises an outsole that has a bottom portion and a medial arch portion extending upward from the bottom portion. The medial arch portion of the outsole has a base and a plurality of protrusions extending outward from the base. The plurality of protrusions are arranged in vertical alignments. In each one of the vertical alignments, at least one protrusion of the plurality of protrusions is closer to the bottom portion and has a larger effective diameter than at least one other protrusion of the plurality of protrusions that is further from the bottom portion.
PROTECTION DEVICES FOR USE IN SHOES OR OTHER PRODUCTS
A variety of devices for protecting a user's foot from injury are disclosed. In one embodiment, the device may be a metatarsal protection device, which may include a first layer of material having top and bottom surfaces, with at least one of such surfaces including a series of cones or a pattern of hexagons thereon. The metatarsal protection device may also include a second relatively rigid layer of material overlying the first layer, and the first layer may be shaped to conform to the metatarsal region of the user's foot, such that the device is configured to protect the metatarsal region against injury. Other configurations and variations of a metatarsal protection device are also disclosed, as are other uses for the principles of the invention(s) disclosed herein (e.g., protection devices for other areas of the foot, etc.)
Article of footwear with inner and outer midsole layers
An article of footwear includes an outsole having a heel region, a midfoot region, and a forefoot region. An outer midsole layer is secured to the outsole and extends only over the heel region and at least some of the midfoot region. An inner midsole layer is supported by the outer midsole layer and the outsole without being fixed thereto, and extends over the heel region, the midfoot region, and the forefoot region. The outer midsole layer is configured to surround a periphery of the inner midsole layer at the heel region. The outsole may include lateral and medial arch portions for traction.
SHOES FOR BALL SPORTS
Described are shoes for ball sports including an upper having an outer surface. An actuator is configured to change at least one surface property of a portion of the outer surface of the upper, and a sensor is configured to be sensitive to movements of the shoe. A processing unit is connected to the actuator and the sensor and configured to process sensor data retrieved from the sensor and to cause the actuator to change the at least one surface property of the portion of the outer surface of the upper if a predetermined event is detected in the sensor data.
