Sustainable Process for the Recycling of Polyethylene Phthalate
A method of processing one or more streams in a phthalate-containing polymer recycling system, the method comprising receiving an extract stream and a raffinat4e stream from a liquid chromatography unit, which is part of the polymer recycling system, wherein the extract stream comprises a bis(hydroxyalkyl) phthalate monomer, C.sub.2-5 alkylene diol, and solvent, and wherein the raffinate stream comprises first impurities, C.sub.2-5 alkylene diol, and solvent; vacuum distilling the extract stream to produce a first solvent stream and a monomer and diol stream comprising the bis(hydroxyalkyl) phthalate monomer and C.sub.2-5 alkylene diol; subjecting the monomer and diol stream to steam separation to produce a monomer stream comprising the bis(hydroxyalkyl) phthalate monomer and water, and a diol stream comprising C.sub.2-5 alkylene diol and water; and vacuum distilling the raffinate stream to produce a second solvent stream and a first impurities stream comprising first impurities and C.sub.2-5 alkylene diol.

EXTRACTION AND PURIFICATION OF NATURAL FERULATE AND COUMARATE FROM BIOMASS
A process for a reactive extraction and subsequent purification of organic molecules from biomass comprises extracting one or more products from the biomass using an extraction solvent to solvate the products, contacting the biomass with a reactant during the extracting, recovering the one or more products, performing ultrafiltration to remove impurities from the one or more products to produce a filtered extract, extracting oils in the filtered extract using adsorption to produce a de-oiled extract, performing transesterification or hydrolysis on the de-oiled extract, and performing adsorptive purification on the ferulic acid, coumaric acid, ferulate, coumarate, or a combination thereof. The one or more products comprise extracted organic molecules comprising a ferulate or a coumarate, and the one or more products are separated from the biomass as a liquid extract.

Elimination of organohalo and oxirane species in carboxylic acid ester streams
The present technology provides a process of reducing, removing or eliminating organohalo, glycidol, and oxirane species from carboxylic acid esters streams and crude and refined triglyceride oils to provide a carboxylic acid ester stream or triglyceride oil with reduced levels or essentially free of organohalo, glycidyl or other oxirane species. The process includes adding to the carboxylic acid ester stream or triglyceride oil an amount of a carboxylate anion and a cation counterion sufficient to react with the organohalo, glycidyl and oxirane species present.
