ALCOHOL DEHYDRATION CATALYST, PREPARATION METHOD THE SAME AND METHOD FOR PREPARING ALPHA-OLEFINS USING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a catalyst for dehydration of a primary alcohol, a method of preparing the same, and a method of producing an alpha-olefin using the same. The catalyst for dehydration of a primary alcohol according to the present invention has an excellent catalyst stability while having an excellent activity with respect to dehydration, and a high turnover frequency, such that a linear alpha-olefin with high purity may be produced with a high selectivity even in a case where a relatively small amount of a cocatalyst is added as compared with a homogeneous catalyst system.

Preparation and use of phenylstyrene

A process for producing phenylstyrene comprises contacting benzene with hydrogen in the presence of a hydroalkylation catalyst under conditions effective to produce a hydroalkylation product comprising cyclohexylbenzene. At least part of the cyclohexylbenzene is then contacted with ethylbenzene in the presence of a transalkylation catalyst under conditions effective to produce a transalkylation product comprising cyclohexylethylbenzene and/or with ethylene in the presence of an alkylation catalyst under conditions effective to produce an alkylation product comprising cyclohexylethylbenzene. At least part of the cyclohexylethylbenzene is then contacted with a dehydrogenation catalyst under conditions effective to produce a dehydrogenation product comprising phenylstyrene.

EVEN CARBON NUMBER PARAFFIN COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME

Paraffin compositions including mainly even carbon number paraffins, and a method for manufacturing the same, is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the method involves contacting naturally occurring fatty acid/glycerides with hydrogen in a slurry bubble column reactor containing bimetallic catalysts with equivalent particle diameters from about 10 to about 400 micron. The even carbon number compositions are particularly useful as phase change material.

Heterogeneous catalysts

Heterogeneous catalysts with optional dopants are provided. The catalysts are useful in a variety of catalytic reactions, for example, the oxidative coupling of methane to C.sub.2+ hydrocarbons. Related methods for use and manufacture of the same are also disclosed.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR WIRELINE CABLE COATING

A cable coater system for a downhole tool includes a cable coater. The cable coater may include a housing and one or more rollers that are coupled to the housing, wherein the one or more rollers are configured to rest on the downhole cable while guiding the cable through openings in the cable coater during wireline operations. The cable coater may remain on cable during all spooling (on and off) activities for the duration of operations and activated to coat the cable upon the final pull out of hole and prior to storage of the cable. The spooling in and out of the cable may further be automatically controlled by providing a positional indicator of the cable coater and thus where the cable is in three-dimensional space relative the spool.

Processes for improving the activity of hybrid catalysts

A process for converting a feed stream to C.sub.2 to C.sub.5 hydrocarbons includes introducing a feed stream of hydrogen and at least one carbon-containing component selected from CO, CO.sub.2, and mixtures thereof into a reaction zone at an initial reactor pressure and an initial reactor temperature. The feed stream is contacted to a hybrid catalyst positioned in the reaction zone, and the hybrid catalyst includes a methanol synthesis component and a solid microporous acid material. The pressure within the reaction zone is increased during the contacting of the feed stream to the hybrid catalyst from the initial reactor pressure to a final reactor pressure. A temperature within the reaction zone at any time during the contacting of the feed stream to the hybrid catalyst is within 20 C. of the initial reactor temperature.
