An orthotic insole comprising top, middle, and bottom layers. The top layer is in contact with a wearer's foot or a wrap of material, the bottom layer is adjacent to an outsole of the shoe, and the middle layer is positioned therebetween. The top layer has substantially the same width and length of the entire insole. The middle layer is a generally j-shaped strip which provides a rearfoot posting within the insole and a cupping effect to a wearer's heel. The middle layer may have a similar overall width as the top layer but may include a shorter length than the top layer such that the middle layer only extends from the heel to approximately the joint of the fifth metatarsal bone. The bottom layer may be more rigid than the other two layers, and may further include a rigid plate. The insole may further include an arch support integrally formed within one or more of the layers or a cushioning layer with one or more cushioning segments on top of the top layer.

The outsole for an article of footwear also includes an annular cleat set including a first plurality of traction elements arranged in series about a central axis on the plantar surface. The outsole for an article of footwear further includes one or more radial cleat sets each including a second plurality of the traction elements aligned along a respective radial axis intersecting the central axis. At least one of the second plurality of the traction elements includes a peripheral cleat formed on the peripheral surface.

ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR

An article of footwear includes an upper and a plate having a top surface facing the upper and a bottom surface formed on an opposite side than the top surface, the plate extending from a first end in a forefoot region to a second end in a heel region. A first cushioning element is attached to the bottom surface of the plate in the forefoot region and a second cushioning element is attached to the bottom surface of the plate in the heel region, the second cushioning element being separated from the first cushioning element by a first gap formed in a mid-foot region. One or more fluid-filled bladders are each at least partially surrounded by the first cushioning element in the forefoot region and have a top surface attached to the bottom surface of the plate.

Embodiments may have an upper including a tunnel which may extend beneath a toe box, the tunnel having a mouth which is accessible via the foot compartment and by way of which a shank insert can be installed, removed or replaced. In some embodiments an elastic loop may be routed under a portion of the shank insert extending from the mouth of the tunnel. In some embodiments the tunnel may penetrate a shank body under which an elastic loop may be routed. A shank insert and/or elastic loop may be selected from sets of ones having different characteristics. In some embodiments the toe box and shank body may be included in a monolithic foot supporting structure. In some embodiments a shank insert and/or toe box may be reshaped at any time.

The impact absorber is be integrally formed with the sole and has a width that varies along a length of the impact absorber. The width of the impact absorber decreases in a forefoot region and a heel region. The upper rolls to contact the top surface of the sole upon lateral impact. The sole and the upper may be attached asymmetrically.
