METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING AN OLEFIN
There is provided a method for producing an optionally substituted olefin, comprising the steps of: dehydrogenating an optionally substituted alcohol in a first reaction zone comprising a first catalyst supported on a porous silica-based particle to form an optionally substituted carbonyl at a first set of reaction conditions; converting the optionally substituted alcohol and the optionally substituted carbonyl from the first reaction zone in a second reaction zone at a second set of reaction conditions that is different to the first set of reaction conditions and is selected to form the optionally substituted olefin, wherein the second reaction zone comprises a second catalyst supported on a porous silica-based particle. There is also provided a system for producing the optionally substituted olefin.

Method for producing conjugated diolefin
A method for producing a conjugated diolefin is configured as follows. A monoolefin having four or more carbon atoms is fed from a plurality of monoolefin feed nozzles. In addition, at least 50% or more of a total amount of an oxygen-containing gas is fed from an oxygen-containing gas feed nozzle located at a bottom of a fluidized bed reactor. Furthermore, the plurality of monoolefin feed nozzles at n places located at heights a1, a2, . . . , and an from the oxygen-containing gas feed nozzle, respectively, feed the monoolefin having four or more carbon atoms at ratios of b1, b2, . . . , bn (b1+b2+ . . . +bn=1), respectively. Furthermore, a weighted mean value represented by the following formula is 100 mm or greater:

MODIFIED CATALYST, METHOD FOR PREPARING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS BY AROMATIZATION OF OLEFINS
The present disclosure provides a modified catalyst, and preparation method and a method for producing aromatic hydrocarbons by aromatization of olefins using the modified catalyst. The modified catalyst comprises an acidic molecular sieve and an olefin aromatization active metal component, the total acid amount of the catalyst as measured by NH3-TPD method is not higher than 0.35mmo1/g, and ratio of the strong acid to weak acid is within a range of 0.8-1.2.
Photocatalytic device based on rare-earth elements: methods of manufacture and use
The present invention relates to the design and fabrication of a device able to efficiently convert broad-spectrum electromagnetic radiation, including but not limited to microwave, millimeter wave, infrared, visible, and ultraviolet, into charge carriers, then separate and direct said charge carriers to promote photosynthetic or photocatalytic reactions, such as the photoconversion of CO.sub.2 and water vapor to hydrocarbon fuels. Device fabrication requires intercalation of rare-earth ion containing crystallites, be they nanoparticles or quantum-dots, bound by an electrically insulating organic or inorganic shell, within a one-dimensional semiconducting material nanoarchitecture such as arrays of nanowires or nanotubes.
METHOD FOR CONVERTING A GAS COMPRISING CARBON MONOXIDE INTO METHANE BY MEANS OF A CATALYTIC MATERIAL CONTAINING PRASEODYMIUM AND NICKEL ON ALUMINA
The invention relates to a method for converting a gas into methane (CH.sub.4) which includes: a step of activating a catalytic material including praseodymium oxide (Pr.sub.6O.sub.11) associated with nickel oxide (NiO) and alumina (Al.sub.2O.sub.3), the respective proportions of which are, relative to the total mass of these three compounds: Pr.sub.6O.sub.11: 1 wt % to 20 wt %, NiO: 1 wt % to 20 wt %, and Al.sub.2O.sub.3: 60 to 98 wt %; and a step of passing a gas including at least one carbon monoxide (CO) over the activated catalytic material.
CATALYST FOR PARAFFIN DEHYDROGENATION
Rare earth element containing catalysts for dehydrogenating paraffins and the methods of making the catalysts are disclosed. A rare earth modified alumina support in eta-alumina form, theta-alumina form, or combinations thereof is impregnated with chromium-containing solution. The chromium-impregnated support is then subjected to calcination processes. The produced catalyst contains the rare earth element, chromium, and alumina. The crush strength of the produced catalyst is greater than 0.4 daN/mm.
CATALYST, METHOD FOR PREPARING CATALYST, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACID AND/OR UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACID ESTER
The present invention is a catalyst comprising: (i) a compound comprising at least one first metal element selected from boron, magnesium, zirconium, and hafnium, and (ii) an alkali metal element, wherein the compound and the alkali metal element are supported on a carrier having silanol groups, an average particle size of the compound of the first metal element is 0.4 nm or more and 50 nm or less, the catalyst satisfies the following formula (1):
0.90×10.sup.−21 (g/number)≤X/(Y×Z)<10.8×10.sup.−21 (g/number) formula (1), in which X is a molar ratio of the alkali metal element to the at least one first metal element in the catalyst, Y is a BET specific surface area of the catalyst (m.sup.2/g), and Z is a number of the silanol groups per unit area (number/nm.sup.2).
