UPPER COMPONENT FOR AN ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR

An upper component for an article of footwear allows easy entry of the foot into the article of footwear. The upper component includes a heel body, which includes a first portion partially defining an ankle opening. The heel body further includes a second portion coupled to the first portion. The second portion is foldable and partially defines the ankle opening. The second portion is movable relative to the first portion between an unfolded configuration and a folded configuration. The upper component includes at least one tension member coupled to the second portion. The tension member is movable relative to the first portion to move the second portion from the unfolded configuration to the folded configuration. The ankle opening is larger when the second portion is in the unfolded configuration than when the second portion is in the folded configuration.

Intelligent electronic footwear and control logic for automated infrastructure-based pedestrian tracking

Presented are intelligent electronic footwear and apparel with controller-automated features, methods for making/operating such footwear and apparel, and control systems for executing automated features of such footwear and apparel. A method for automating a collaborative operation between an intelligent electronic shoe (IES) and an intelligent transportation management (ITM) system includes receiving, via a detection tag attached to the IES shoe structure, a prompt signal from a transmitter-detector module communicatively connected to a traffic system controller of the ITM system. In reaction to the received prompt signal, the detection tag transmits a response signal to the transmitter-detector module. The traffic system controller uses the response signal to determine a location of the IES's user, and the current operating state of a traffic signal proximate the user's location. The traffic system controller transmits a command signal to the traffic signal to switch from the current operating state to a new operating state.

SECURING MECHANISMS FOR ARTICLES OF FOOTWEAR

An article of footwear includes a sole structure, an upper, and a securing mechanism. The upper comprises a toe region, a midfoot region, a heel region, a lateral side, and a medial side, and is coupled to the sole structure. The securing mechanism is fixedly attached to the upper and comprises a forefoot portion and a heel lock element. The heel lock element has a first and a second end and extends from the lateral side of the upper, passes around the heel region of the upper, and extends to the medial side of the upper. The heel lock element comprises a stiffness that is greater than the stiffness of the upper and is configured such that tensioning the securing band adjusts the heel segment of the main portion relative to a wearer's heel.

The present disclosure provides a string collecting device and an article having a string, wherein the string collecting device includes a rotating part and a string winding part configured to wind a string; the rotating part is provided with at least one movable part that is capable of moving; the movable part is configured to be engaged with the string winding part when the rotating part is rotated towards a string collecting direction, and wherein when the movable part is engaged with the string winding part, the three, namely, the rotating part, the movable part and the string winding part, are connected in synchronous rotation.

REEL BASED CLOSURE SYSTEM

A reel based closure device for tightening an article includes a housing and a spool that is positioned within the housing. The spool is rotatable within the housing to wind a tension member about a channel of the spool. A knob is supported by the housing and is operably coupled to the spool so that rotation of the knob causes the spool to rotate within the housing. A pawl component is operably couplable to the knob. The pawl component includes one or more pawls having a pawl arm fixedly connected at a proximal end to the pawl component. A distal end of the pawl arm includes one or more pawl teeth. The pawl component includes a lip and the pawl arm includes a tab that engages with the lip of the pawl component to control radial movement of the pawl arm relative to the pawl component.

Closure devices including incremental release mechanisms and methods therefor

According to an embodiment, a device for tightening an article includes a housing, a spool rotatably positioned within the housing, a knob operably coupled with the spool to cause the spool to rotate within the housing, and a stop mechanism. The device is configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a first direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool within the housing that incrementally tensions a tension member and thereby tightens the article. The device is also configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a second direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool that incrementally loosens the tension member's tension. The stop mechanism is configured to prevent rotation of the spool in the second direction when the tension member's tension achieves or falls below a tension threshold.
