METHOD FOR PRODUCING MODIFIED CONJUGATED DIENE-BASED POLYMER, MODIFIED CONJUGATED DIENE-BASED POLYMER, POLYMER COMPOSITION, CROSSLINKED BODY, TIRE AND COMPOUND
A modified conjugated diene-based polymer having high Mooney viscosity and good shape stability and exhibiting excellent processability and low heat build-up is obtained in as few steps as possible. The modified conjugated diene-based polymer is produced by a method of reacting a conjugated diene-based polymer having an active chain end, obtained by polymerizing a monomer containing a conjugated diene compound in the presence of an initiator that contains at least either of an alkali metal compound and an alkaline earth metal compound, with a compound [M] having at least two groups selected from the group consisting of a group C(R.sup.1)N-A.sup.1 and a group NC(R.sup.1)-A.sup.1, where R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbyl group and A.sup.1 is a monovalent group having an alkoxysilyl group.
Halogenated Wax Grafted To Low Molecular Weight Polymer
A wax-polymer compound includes (a) a polymer component that is a polymerized unsaturated monomer, optionally copolymerized with a vinyl-aromatic monomer, and (b) a halogenated hydrocarbon wax component. The polymer component is grafted to the halogenated hydrocarbon wax component, and the wax-polymer compound has a number average molecular weight of about 1,000 to about 100,000. A method of making the wax-polymer compound and a coated silica particle are also disclosed.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR CURING A SURFACE OF AN UNCURED POLYSULFIDE RUBBER
Disclosed are compositions comprising a liquid carrier, a polysulfide rubber curing agent, a metal cation, and an ionic liquid. Also disclosed are methods for curing a surface of an uncured polysulfide rubber. These methods involve applying the disclosed compositions to the surface of the uncured polysulfide rubber.

Modified plant fibers, additive for rubber, process for producing same, and rubber composition
Provided are modified plant fibers suitable for addition to rubber; an additive for rubber comprising the modified plant fibers which can be micronized and dispersed easily and highly when adding to rubber; a method of preparing the additive for rubber; and a rubber composition comprising the additive for rubber. Modified plant fibers (A) in which plant fibers (a) and a modified synthetic rubber (B) are covalently bonded wherein the ratio of the modified synthetic rubber (B) relative to 100 parts by weight of the plant fibers (a) is 5 to 100 parts by weight. An additive for rubber comprising 20 to 75 weight % of the modified plant fibers (A) according to claim 1 and 25 to 80 weight % of a processing agent for rubber (C), wherein the number average molecular weight of the processing agent for rubber (C) is 400 to 60,000, and the glass transition point of the processing agent for rubber (C) is 100 C. or less, and wherein the additive for rubber includes plant fibers in the ratio of 10 to 65 weight %.

A wax-polymer compound includes (a) a polymer component that is a polymerized unsaturated monomer, optionally copolymerized with a vinyl-aromatic monomer, and (b) a halogenated hydrocarbon wax component. The polymer component is grafted to the halogenated hydrocarbon wax component, and the wax-polymer compound has a number average molecular weight of about 1,000 to about 100,000, A method of making the wax-polymer compound and a coated silica particle are also disclosed. A rubber composition includes a rubber elastomer comprising a polymerized unsaturated monomer and optionally a polymerized vinyl-aromatic monomer, the elastomer having a number average molecular weight of about 100,000 to about 1,000,000. It further includes a filler in an amount of about 5 to about 200 phr, the filler comprising carbon black, silica, or both; and a wax-polymer additive.

Microbial desulfurization and surface activation of rubber
Preparing a microbially desulfurized crumb rubber includes combining microorganisms capable of breaking crosslinked sulfur bonds, sulfur-containing crumb rubber, and a salt solution to yield a mixture; combining a buffer with the mixture to yield a buffered mixture, thereby adjusting a pH of the mixture; providing oxygen to the buffered mixture; incubating the buffered mixture for a length of time to yield a microbially desulfurized mixture; combining the microbially desulfurized mixture with bitumen to yield a precursor; and heating the precursor to yield the microbially desulfurized crumb rubber. The microbially desulfurized crumb rubber can be combined with bitumen to yield a modified bitumen. The modified bitumen can be combined with asphalt to yield a modified asphalt.

Preparing a microbially desulfurized crumb rubber includes combining microorganisms capable of breaking crosslinked sulfur bonds, sulfur-containing crumb rubber, and a salt solution to yield a mixture; combining a buffer with the mixture to yield a buffered mixture, thereby adjusting a pH of the mixture; providing oxygen to the buffered mixture; incubating the buffered mixture for a length of time to yield a microbially desulfurized mixture; combining the microbially desulfurized mixture with bitumen to yield a precursor; and heating the precursor to yield the microbially desulfurized crumb rubber. The microbially desulfurized crumb rubber can be combined with bitumen to yield a modified bitumen. The modified bitumen can be combined with asphalt to yield a modified asphalt.

A conjugated diene-based polymer comprising a structural unit derived from a conjugated diene compound and having, at a terminal of the polymer, at least one nitrogen-containing group represented by formula (1) is used. In formula (1), R.sup.1 is a hydrocarbyl group, and the symbol * is a bonding site.
