Method for reducing odoriferous and/or toxic residual monomer in a latex
A new and efficient toxicity and/or odor reducing method for ethyl acrylate and/or acrylonitrile containing aqueous polymer dispersion is disclosed, which comprises contacting a sufficient amount of an ethyl acrylate/acrylonitrile scavenging compound with a stable aqueous dispersion of a polymer to form a polymeric dispersion that contains less than 1 ppm of ethyl acrylate and less than 1 ppm acrylonitrile; wherein the polymer contains a) polymerized units of acylonitrile and/or ethyl acrylate and b) at least 5 ppm of ethyl acrylate and/or acrylonitrile monomers; and wherein the ethyl acrylate/acrylonitrile scavenging compound are contacted with the dispersion independently from contact of the dispersion with any redox pairs.
METHODS FOR PROVIDING POLYVINYL CHLORIDE PARTICLES FOR PREPARING CHLORINATED POLYVINYL CHLORIDE
A method for providing particles of polyvinyl chloride, wherein the particles offer improved chlorinating efficiency, the method comprising (i) providing polyvinyl chloride particles; and (ii) introducing a chlorination accelerant to the polyvinyl chloride particles to thereby provide polyvinyl chloride particles having an accelerant associated therewith.
Impact modified thermoplastic composition
The present invention relates to thermoplastic compositions comprising as impact modifier a rubber containing graft polymer prepared by the process of emulsion polymerization and recovered by a special process controlling and adjusting the pH value, the use of the thermoplastic compositions in the production of molded bodies, and to the molded, bodies themselves. The present invention relates also to thermoplastic compositions comprising a polymeric impact modifier with a core-shell structure made by a multistage process and recovered by a special process controlling and adjusting the pH value comprising at least one gradient polymer the use of the thermoplastic compositions in the production of molded bodies, and to the molded, bodies themselves.
CENTRALIZED HYDROCARBON TREATMENT IN A POLYMER PRODUCTION PROCESS
Treaters that are configured to remove one or more contaminants from hydrocarbon streams recovered from a polymerization process are located upstream of the monomer and diluent recovery unit.
Core shell particle multistage polymer powder, its manufacturing process
The present invention relates to new impact modifiers and a process for making these new impact modifiers and their use in polymeric compositions. More particularly the present invention relates to a new polymeric impact modifier with a core-shell structure made by a multistage polymerization process comprising at least one gradient polymer. The present invention relates as well to a process preparing such an impact modifier, especially its recovery process after the end of the polymerization. The present invention also relates to a thermoplastic composition comprising the new impact modifier.

Compositions Including Copolymers of Isobutylene and Paramethylstyrene Substantially Free of Paramethylstyrene Monomers and Methods of Making the Same
A process for preparing a cement composition comprising an isoolefin-alkylstyrene copolymer and substantially free of an alkylstyrene monomer is described herein. The process comprises reacting the isoolefin monomer with at least a portion of the alkylstyrene monomer in a diluent to form an isoolefin-alkylstyrene copolymer, replacing the diluent with a solvent, reacting a halogenic scavenger with the unreacted alkylstyrene monomer in an absence of a free radical initiator in order to form a halogenic alkylstyrene compound without altering the isoolefin-alkylstyrene copolymer, and removing the halogenic alkylstyrene compound from the slurry to form the cement composition substantially free of the alkylstyrene monomer. Also disclosed herein is a composition comprising an isoolefin-alkylstyrene copolymer and an alkylstyrene monomer comprising a concentration less than about 20 ppm.
