Method for separating polybutene
A method for separating polybutene, the method including: (1) introducing a polybutene solution into a distillation column, the solution including polybutene, a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent, and a non-polar hydrocarbon solvent and having a viscosity of 1 cp to 50 cp measured at 25 C. using a rotational viscometer; (2) collecting an upper stream including the halogenated hydrocarbon solvent and a portion of the non-polar hydrocarbon solvent from an upper portion of the distillation column, and collecting a lower stream including the polybutene and a remaining portion of the non-polar hydrocarbon solvent from a lower portion of the distillation column, where the lower stream has a viscosity of 10 cp to 150 cp; and (3) separating the remaining portion of the non-polar hydrocarbon solvent and the polybutene from the lower stream.

NANOPORE WITH A CAVITY FOR FILTERING POLYMERS
Various embodiments are described herein a membrane that may be used to affect the translocation of polymers through at least one nanopore in the membrane by incorporating an enlarged cavity within the nanopore where the cavity size is selected along with an external force strength so that a translocation time of polymers through the nanopore is affected and may result in a non-monotonic function of polymer chain length, provide a low-pass application or a bioreactor application, for example. Various combinations of such membranes may be used in polymer filtration devices.

Method for producing modified polymer and hydrogenated product thereof
A method for producing a modified polymer or a hydrogenated product thereof, includes polymerizing a monomer in a polymerization solvent which includes a hydrocarbon-based solvent, using a polymerization initiator to obtain a reaction solution. A functional group is introduced into the modified polymer or the hydrogenated product thereof, using a compound having the functional group protected with a silyl group. The reaction solution is separated into a solvent fraction including the hydrocarbon-based solvent, and a solid fraction including the modified polymer or the hydrogenated product thereof. The solvent fraction separated from the reaction solution is distilled to obtain a low-boiling fraction including the hydrocarbon-based solvent and a silanol compound. At least part of the silanol compound is removed from the low-boiling fraction by liquid-liquid extraction. At least part of a raffinate of the low-boiling fraction is recycled as a polymerization solvent.
