A retrofit propulsion apparatus attaches to an avian decoy to provide both propulsion and steering to the decoy under remote control by the user. The retrofit propulsion apparatus attaches to decoys with different keel geometries without the need to modify the retrofit propulsion apparatus for each decoy keel geometry. The apparatus includes a housing that contains electrical circuitry with control circuitry that couples to inboard water propulsion devices to provide thrust and steering to the decoy. A housing cover sealably attaches to the housing to seal the housing. The housing cover includes a slot that receives a vertical member of a decoy keel. The housing includes an angled channel that receives both a decoy with a decoy bottom member with vertical spaced apart sides and a decoy with a decoy bottom member with angled sides.

A luminescent replica comprising a replica of a bird of prey is described. The bird of prey can be an owl, falcon or hawk. The bird of prey can be a great horned owl. The luminescent replica can include a luminescent material on a surface of the replica. The luminescent replica can include a luminescent material on a surface representing a ventral area of the bird of prey. The luminescent material can emit light having a wavelength of from about 600 nm to about 750 nm, and optionally, from about 450 nm to about 500 nm. The luminescent material can absorb ultraviolet radiation having a wavelength of less than about 400 nm. The luminescent material may include a porphyrin or derivative of a porphyrin. A kit and method for making the luminescent replica are also described.

A non-edible game attractant that visually attracts game in the form of a game bait decoy is provided. The game bait decoy may provide a decoy sheet having outward-facing attractant simulating indicia. The decoy sheet may be anchored to the ground over a pile structure to mimic the shape of a bait pile. The decoy sheet may provide flaps defined by slots for enabling animal access to the pile structure and allowing sufficient air flow through the decoy sheet to prevent the decoy sheet from catching sail in windy conditions as well as to aerate the pile structure.

A waterfowl motion simulation device for affecting the motion of waterfowl decoys in an aquatic terrain is disclosed. The waterfowl motion simulation device includes a winding unit configured to wind and unwind a line assembly. The line assembly includes a main line with a plurality of decoy attachment appendages provided at various points along its length. The winding unit includes a motor accommodated inside a winding unit housing, and a winding implement rotatably supported outside the winding unit housing by an output shaft of the motor. A control unit electrically connected to the motor is operable to control the rotation of the winding implement to wind and unwind the line assembly by controlling the motor according to a rotational speed and timing indicated by user input received through at least one user interface. A power supply unit is removably engaged with, and electrically connected to the control unit through, a power supply interface on an exterior surface of the winding unit housing. The waterfowl motion simulation device preferably also includes a mounting assembly configured to adjustably support at least in part the power supply unit, power supply interface, winding unit, and control unit above an aquatic terrain. A method of using the waterfowl motion simulation device to affect the motion of at least one waterfowl decoy in an aquatic terrain is also described.
