Crosslinkable random copolymers comprising atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) initiators and crosslinked copolymer films formed from the copolymers are provided. The random copolymers, which are polymerized from one or more alkyl halide functional inimers and one or more monomers having a crosslinkable functionality, are characterized by pendant ATRP initiating groups and pendant crosslinkable groups.

Described herein is a composition comprising a fluorothermoplastic polymer, wherein the fluorothermoplastic polymer is derived from: (a) 60-85 mol % tetrafluoroethene; (b) 2-12 mol % hexafluoropropene; (c) 10-30 mol % vinylidene fluoride; (d) 0.2 to 5 mol % of a bromine-containing monomer. Such compositions can be used in multilayer constructions in, for example, fuel hose applications.

Described herein is a composition comprising a fluorothermoplastic polymer, wherein the fluorothermoplastic polymer is derived from: (a) 60-85 mol % tetrafluoroethene; (b) 2-12 mol % hexafluoropropene; (c) 10-30 mol % vinylidene fluoride; (d) 0.2 to 5 mol % of a bromine-containing monomer. Such compositions can be used in multilayer constructions in, for example, fuel hose applications.

Fluorine-containing copolymer and water- and oil-repellent agent

A water- and oil-repellent agent is an aqueous emulsion containing: (I) a fluorine-containing copolymer, (II) a surfactant, and (III) an aqueous medium. The fluorine-containing copolymer contains repeating units derived from (a) a fluorine-containing monomer containing a fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and (b) a fluorine-free monomer selected from the group consisting of vinyl halide and vinylidene halide, wherein the fluorine-containing copolymer has a melt viscosity of 1,000 to 100,000 cP at a temperature of 100 C. under a load of 25 kgf/cm.sup.2.

A water- and oil-repellent agent is an aqueous emulsion containing: (I) a fluorine-containing copolymer, (II) a surfactant, and (III) an aqueous medium. Highly fluorinated elastomers

Described herein is a peroxide curable, highly fluorinated elastomer derived from (a) a fluorinated di-iodo ether compound of the following formula I: R.sub.fCF(I)(CX.sub.2).sub.n(CX.sub.2CXR).sub.mORf-O.sub.k(CXRCX.sub.2).sub.p(CX.sub.2).sub.qCF(I)R.sub.f wherein X is independently selected from F, H, and Cl; R.sub.f and R.sub.f are independently selected from F and a monovalent perfluoroalkane having 1-3 carbons; R is F, or a partially fluorinated or perfluorinated alkane comprising 1-3 carbons; R.sub.f is a divalent fluoroalkylene having 1-5 carbons or a divalent fluorinated alkylene ether having 1-8 carbons and at least one ether linkage; k is 0 or 1; and n, m, and p are independently selected from an integer from 0-5, with the proviso that when k is 0, n+m is at least 1 and p+q is at least 1; and (b) a fluorinated monomer.

Crosslinkable electroactive fluorinated polymers

The invention relates to a copolymer comprising units derived from monomers of vinylidene fluoride and/or trifluoroethylene, as well as fluorinated monomers X comprising a double bond and a leaving group selected from among chlorine, bromine and iodine atoms, the leaving groups being partially replaced by azide groups in the copolymer.
