AN AMINE-MODIFIED POLYMER, A CONTROLLED FREE RADICAL POLYMERIZATION FOR PREPARING THE SAME AND IMPLEMENTATIONS THEREOF
The presently claimed invention relates to an amine-modified polymer and method for preparation thereof. The presently claimed invention is also directed to the use of the polymer as dispersant in ink and coating compositions. Polyacrylate polymer is obtained by controlled free radical polymerization of a mixture comprising at least one acrylate monomer. The post-modification of polyacrylate polymers yields amine-modified polymers that provide improved viscosity parameters, without sacrificing the advantages of a well-defined polymer structure.

Polymeric particles
This invention relates to monodisperse magnetic hydrogel polymer particles comprising a magnetic material and a polymer formed from (a) a hydrophilic vinylic monomer having a log P.sub.oct/wat (log P) of less than about 0.5; and (b) a crosslinker comprising at least two vinyl groups. The invention also relates to monodisperse coated hydrogel polymer particles comprising a polymer formed from (a) a hydrophilic vinylic monomer having a log P.sub.oct/wat (log P) of less than about 0.5; and (b) a crosslinker comprising at least two vinyl groups; and a coating. Also provided are methods of forming the monodisperse magnetic hydrogel polymer particles and monodisperse coated polymer particles.
Polymeric antimicrobial surfactant
Polycationic polymeric antimicrobial surfactant and polymeric biocompatible antimicrobial surfactant compositions are useful in dispersing various compounds in a carrier liquid. The polycationic polymeric antimicrobial surfactant and polymeric biocompatible antimicrobial surfactant compositions employ polymers having both hydrophilic domains and hydrophobic domains so that the compositions can disperse particles such as polymer particles or droplets in a continuous phase as well as provide stable dispersions that have not been provided before. The antimicrobial properties of the compositions provide much-needed capabilities of fighting infectious agents such as bacteria and viruses in a wide spectrum of products such as paint, adhesives, and coatings. Methods of using these compositions as well as methods of making products using the compositions are disclosed.
