CHROMIUM OXIDE CATALYST FOR ETHYLENE POLYMERIZATION
The invention relates to a solid catalyst system comprising a first chromium compound, a second chromium compound, a reaction product of an alkyl aluminium compound and a nitrogen containing compound and a silicon oxide support, wherein the first chromium compound is chromium trioxide or a compound convertible to chromium trioxide, the second chromium compound is a slilylchromate compound and the nitrogen containing compound is a cycloalkylamine compound having the general formula: R.sup.3—NH.sub.2, wherein R.sup.3 is selected from C3-C8 cycloalkyl groups.
DUAL CATALYST SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING POLYETHYLENE WITH LONG CHAIN BRANCHING FOR BLOW MOLDING APPLICATIONS
Ethylene-based polymers are characterized by a melt index less than 1 g/10 min, a density from 0.94 to 0.965 g/cm.sup.3, a Mw from 100,000 to 250,000 g/mol, a relaxation time from 0.5 to 3 sec, and an average number of long chain branches (LCBs) per 1,000,000 total carbon atoms in a molecular weight range of 300,000 to 900,000 g/mol that is greater than that in a molecular weight range of 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 g/mol, or an average number of LCBs per 1,000,000 total carbon atoms in a molecular weight range of 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 g/mol of less than or equal to about 5 and a maximum ratio of η.sub.E/3η at an extensional rate of 0.1 sec.sup.−1 from 1.2 to 10. These polymers have substantially no long chain branching in the high molecular weight fraction of the polymer, but instead have significant long chain branching in a lower molecular weight fraction, such that polymer melt strength and parison stability are maintained for the fabrication of blow molded products and other articles of manufacture. These ethylene polymers can be produced using a dual catalyst system containing a single or two atom bridged metallocene compound with two indenyl groups, and a single atom bridged metallocene compound with a fluorenyl group and a cyclopentadienyl group.

Ethylene-based polymers are characterized by a melt index less than 1 g/10 min, a density from 0.94 to 0.965 g/cm.sup.3, a Mw from 100,000 to 250,000 g/mol, a relaxation time from 0.5 to 3 sec, and an average number of long chain branches (LCBs) per 1,000,000 total carbon atoms in a molecular weight range of 300,000 to 900,000 g/mol that is greater than that in a molecular weight range of 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 g/mol, or an average number of LCBs per 1,000,000 total carbon atoms in a molecular weight range of 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 g/mol of less than or equal to about 5 and a maximum ratio of η.sub.E/3η at an extensional rate of 0.1 sec.sup.−1 from 1.2 to 10. These polymers have substantially no long chain branching in the high molecular weight fraction of the polymer, but instead have significant long chain branching in a lower molecular weight fraction, such that polymer melt strength and parison stability are maintained for the fabrication of blow molded products and other articles of manufacture. DUAL METALLOCENE POLYETHYLENE WITH IMPROVED PROCESSABILITY FOR LIGHTWEIGHT BLOW MOLDED PRODUCTS
Ethylene-based polymers having a density of 0.952 to 0.968 g/cm.sup.3, a ratio of HLMI/MI from 185 to 550, an IB parameter from 1.46 to 1.80, a tan δ at 0.1 sec.sup.−1 from 1.05 to 1.75 degrees, and a slope of a plot of viscosity versus shear rate at 100 sec.sup.−1 from 0.18 to 0.28 are described, with low melt flow versions having a HLMI from 10 to 30 g/10 min and a Mw from 250,000 to 450,000 g/mol, and high melt flow versions having a HLMI from 30 to 55 g/10 min and a Mw from 200,000 to 300,000 g/mol. These polymers have the processability of chromium-based resins, but with improved stress crack resistance and topload strength for bottles and other blow molded products.
DUAL METALLOCENE POLYETHYLENE WITH IMPROVED PROCESSABILITY FOR LIGHTWEIGHT BLOW MOLDED PRODUCTS

The invention relates to a solid catalyst system comprising a chromium compound, a metal compound, an aluminium compound and a silicon oxide support, wherein the silicon oxide support has an average particle diameter in the range between ≥20 and ≤50 μm, a pore volume in the range between ≥1.7 ml/g and ≤3 ml/g, and a surface area in the range between ≥400 m.sup.2/g and ≤800 m.sup.2/g, and wherein the aluminium alkoxide compound has the formula
R.sub.1—Al—OR.sub.2
wherein R.sub.1 is selected from (C.sub.1-C.sub.8) alkyl groups and OR.sub.2 is selected from (C.sub.1-C.sub.8) alkoxyl groups.

A machine direction oriented film comprising a multimodal copolymer of ethylene and at least two alpha-olefin-comonomers having: a) a density of from 906 to 925 kg/m.sup.3 determined according to ISO 1183, b) an MFR.sub.21 of 10-200 g/10 min determined according to ISO1133, wherein the multimodal copolymer of ethylene comprises c) a first copolymer of ethylene and a first alpha-olefin comonomer having 4 to 10 carbon atoms; and d) a second copolymer of ethylene having an alpha-olefin comonomer different from the first copolymer, said second alpha-olefin comonomer having 6 to 10 carbon atoms.

A machine direction oriented film comprising a multimodal copolymer of ethylene and at least two alpha-olefin-comonomers having: a) a density of from 906 to 925 kg/m.sup.3 determined according to ISO 1183, b) an MFR.sub.21 of 10-200 g/10 min determined according to ISO1133, wherein the multimodal copolymer of ethylene comprises c) a first copolymer of ethylene and a first alpha-olefin comonomer having 4 to 10 carbon atoms; and d) a second copolymer of ethylene having an alpha-olefin comonomer different from the first copolymer, said second alpha-olefin comonomer having 6 to 10 carbon atoms.
Catalyst composition and method for preparing polyethylene
Disclosed are metallocene compounds, catalyst compositions comprising at least one metallocene compound, processes for polymerizing olefins, methods for making catalyst compositions, olefin polymers and articles made from olefin polymers. In an aspect, a metallocene compound and catalyst composition are disclosed in which the metallocene contains at least one indenyl ligand, the indenyl ligand containing at least one halogenated substituent, such as a fluorinated substituent. These metallocene compounds and catalyst compositions can produce polyethylene having unexpectedly low levels of short chain branching.
