Process for the preparation of a polythioethersulfide
Process for the production of a liquid mercapto-terminated polythioethersulfide comprising the step of reacting, at a temperature in the range 0-100° C. and in the presence of a catalyst: at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (i) dimercapto-dioxa-alkanes (DMDAs) and (ii) glycol di(mercapto carboxylic acid ester)s (GDMEs), at least one dimercapto-dialkyl sulfide (DMDS) at least one di-epoxide, and optionally at least one branching agent selected from compounds having at least three terminal groups selected from epoxy and mercapto groups,
wherein the molar ratio (DMDA+GDME)/DMDS is in the range 1.1-4.0.
CURABLE SEALANT COMPOSITIONS, SEAL CAP, AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
Curable sealant compositions comprise the components: a) x weight percent of at least one polythiol; b) y weight percent of at least one unsaturated compound having at least two non-aromatic carbon-carbon double bonds, at least one carbon-carbon triple bond, or a combination thereof; c) from 0.01 to 8 weight percent of at least one quaternary ammonium or phosphonium salt; d) from 0.05 to 10 weight percent of at least one organic peroxide; and e) optionally from 0.01 to 10 weight percent of a photoinitiator system capable of generating free radicals upon exposure to actinic radiation. Each of x and y represents a positive real number. The sum x+y is in the range of 72 to 99. The weight percent ranges of the components a)-e) are based on the total weight of the components a)-e). A seal cap including the curable sealant composition and methods of making and using the curable sealant compositions are also disclosed.

Degradable thiol-ene polymers and methods of making thereof
Provided are methods for linking polypeptides (including peptides and proteins) to other moieties using radical imitated thiol-ene chemistries, for example, modifying a polypeptide by introducing reactive thiol groups and reacting the thiol groups with olefin-containing reagents or alkyne-containing reagents under conditions that support radical thiol-ene or thiol-yne reactions. The reactive thiol groups have greater activity for radical thiol-ene reactions that a cysteine thiol group, including thiol groups that are separated from the peptide backbone by at least two carbon atoms, for example, the thiol group of a homocysteine residue. Also provided are compositions and biomaterials containing the linked polypeptides, for example, peptide and protein conjugates, and thiol-ene based biocompatible hydrogel polymers, and their uses in the medical field.
