Ionomers and methods of making same and uses thereof
Phosphazenium-based ionomers and methods of making them are disclosed. The ionomers are useful in making membranes for fuel cells and other devices that benefit from extremely base-stable membranes. The polymers (ionomers) contain repeating units of formula: ##STR00001##
in which all of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, W, Y and Z are hydrocarbon.
MATRIX-FREE POLYMER NANOCOMPOSITES AND RELATED PRODUCTS AND METHODS THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to a matrix-free polymer nanocomposite. The matrix-free polymer nanocomposite includes a plurality of polymer brush grafted nanoparticles, which form the nanocomposite in the absence of a polymeric matrix. The polymer brush grafted to the nanoparticles comprises a multimodal brush configuration having at least two different populations of polymer ligands of different lengths. The present disclosure also relates to an optic or optoelectronic component comprising a matrix-free polymer nanocomposite as described herein. The present disclosure further relates to a method of making a matrix-free polymer nanocomposite.
Polyphosphazenes
Substituted poly(phosphazene) compounds comprising a combination of units having one or more of the structures (i) to (iii) wherein: the combination comprises R.sub.1 and R.sub.2; each R.sub.1, is independently an optionally substituted alkyl- or alkyl ether-based side chain containing an isocyanate-reactive moiety, an epoxide-reactive moiety, an amine-reactive moiety, a supramolecular noncovalent bonding moiety, or combinations thereof; and each R.sub.2 is independently an optionally substituted alkyl- or alkyl ether-based side chain containing nitro, nitramine, nitrate ester, azide, an ammonium compound moiety with energetic counter-ion, or combinations thereof. Methods of making the compounds are also described.
Phosphorous containing compounds and process for synthesis
The instant disclosure relates to phosphorus-containing compounds that can be used to form flame retardant phosphorus-containing resins, and also can serve as a hardener for a flame retardant epoxy resin compositions. In particular, the phosphorus-containing compounds are modified with acyloxy groups (O(CO)R), as shown below. Incorporation of the acyloxy groups results in resins that are water resistant and exhibit improved dielectric properties. ##STR00001##
Polyphosphazene drug carriers
The present invention relates generally to hybrid polymer (e.g., polyphosphazene) based drug delivery platforms and to methods of producing, evaluating, administering, and treating subjects with the same. More particularly, the present invention provides polyphosphazene based drug delivery platforms comprising one or more polyphosphazenes with controlled molecular weights and/or polydispersities as well as selective methods for associating one or more therapeutic drug (or prodrug) substances to the polyphosphazenes.
