Foam insulation with enhanced fire and smoke performance
A polyisocyanurate foam insulation product includes polyisocyanurate foam produced from reacting an isocyanate and a polyol blend having a functionality of at least 2.2. The isocyanate and the polyol blend are reacted so that the polyisocyanurate foam has an isocyanate index equivalent with or greater than 300. The polyisocyanurate foam includes a fire retardant and includes between 0.02 and 0.45 weight percent of a zinc salt compound. The foam insulation board exhibits a flame spread of no greater than 25 and a smoke index of no greater than 50 when exposed to flame conditions in accordance with an ASTM E-84 test.

The invention provides polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams and methods for the preparation thereof. More particularly, the invention relates to closed-celled, polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams and methods for their preparation. The foams are characterized by a fine uniform cell structure and little or no foam collapse. The foams are produced with a polyol premix composition which comprises a combination of a hydrohaloolefin blowing agent, a polyol, a silicone surfactant, and a non-amine catalyst used alone or in combination with an amine catalyst.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ISOCYANATE-BASED FOAM CONSTRUCTION BOARDS
A process for producing a polyurethane or polyisocyanurate construction board, the process comprising (i) providing an A-side reactant stream that includes an isocyanate containing compound; (ii) providing a B-side reactant stream that includes a polyol and a physical blowing agent, where the physical blowing agent includes pentane, butane, and optionally a blowing agent additive that has a Hansen Solubility Parameter (.sub.t) that is greater than 17 MPa.sup.0.5; and (iii) mixing the A-side reactant stream with the B-side reactant stream to produce a reaction mixture.
SPRAYABLE POLYTHIOETHER COATINGS AND SEALANTS
Isocyanate-terminated chain-extended polythioether prepolymers, compositions thereof, and methods of use thereof are disclosed. The isocyanate-terminated chain-extended polythioether prepolymers are useful in sprayable coatings and sealants and especially sprayable coatings and sealants having a high filler content.
Stabilization of polyurethane foam polyol premixes containing halogenated olefin blowing agents
The invention provides polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams and methods for the preparation thereof. More particularly, the invention relates to polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams having an open-cell, closed-cell or a combination of open and closed cell structure, and methods for their preparation. The foams are produced with a polyol premix composition which comprises a combination of a hydrohaloolefin blowing agent, a polyol and a catalyst which is an adduct of an amine and an organic acid.
URETHANE RESIN COMPOSITION
The present invention relates to a polyol composition for obtaining a polyurethane foam through a reaction with a polyisocyanate compound. The polyol composition comprises a polyol, a catalyst, a foam stabilizer, a foaming agent, and ammonium carboxylate, wherein the ammonium carboxylate has a quaternary ammonium cation as a cationic moiety, and a carboxylic acid anion represented by formula (1) as an anionic moiety.
ISOCYANURATE-CONTAINING POLYISOCYANATE COMPOSITION WITH STABLE CHROMATICITY, AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
The present invention provides an isocyanurate-containing polyisocyanate composition with stable chromaticity, and a preparation method thereof, belonging to the technical field of polyisocyanate composition preparation. The preparation method comprises: an isocyanate monomer being polymerized in the presence of a catalyst, after the reaction is terminated, obtaining a prepolymer, subjecting the prepolymer to separation treatment and heat treatment, and obtaining the polyisocyanate composition containing isocyanurate; based on the weight of the polyisocyanate composition, the cleavable amine content of the polyisocyanate composition is less than or equal to 20 ppm. By means of controlling the cleavable amine content of the polyisocyanate composition, the present invention causes the resulting isocyanurate-containing polyisocyanate composition to have stable storage chromaticity, and the present invention has a chrominance increase of 10 Hazen when stored at 40 C. for 12 months.
Mixing device with a pressure holding device
The invention relates to a mixing device comprising at least one supply opening for at least one liquid and comprising at least one additional supply opening for at least one liquid curing or crosslinking agent. The liquid and/or the liquid curing or crosslinking agent is/are mixed with a gas. The mixing device also comprises a discharge opening for discharging a mixture, which can be produced in the mixing device, of the at least one liquid and the at least one liquid curing or crosslinking agent. A pressure holding device is provided for holding a specifiable pressure which is higher than the pressure at which the gas in the mixing device is foamed.
PRODUCTION OF POLYURETHANE FOAM
Composition for producing polyurethane foam, in particular rigid polyurethane foam, comprising at least an isocyanate component, a polyol component, optionally a catalyst that catalyses the formation of a urethane or isocyanate linkage, blowing agents, wherein the composition comprises polyester-polysiloxane block copolymers.
Hydrocarbon Blown Polyurethane Foam Formulation Giving Desirable Thermal Insulation Properties
Polyurethane/polyisocyanurate foam insulation described herein is derived from a composition that contains an organic polyisocyanate, an isocyanate reactive material containing at least about 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of an aromatic polyester polyol, a hydrocarbon blowing agent, a first catalyst selected from the group consisting of a carboxylate salt of an alkali metal, a carboxylate salt of an alkaline earth metal, a carboxylate salt of a quaternary ammonium, and combinations thereof, and a second catalyst comprising a non-reactive tertiary amine, wherein a molar ratio of the first catalyst to the second catalyst is less than about 1.25, the composition gels quickly, and the composition has an isocyanate index greater than about 175. Such an insulating foam has a ratio of thermal conductivity at 75 F. to thermal conductivity at 25 F. between about 0.98 and about 1.10.
