The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of an epoxy-functional polyester, and to solid epoxy-functional polyesters made by such process and to a coating composition, in particular a powder coating composition, comprising such solid epoxy-functional polyester. The polyester made as disclosed herein is particularly useful in powder coatings.

The present invention is directed to dirt and anti-microbial resistant compositions and articles that include a powder coating composition formed from a precursor comprising polymeric binder resin, cross-linker, and a blend of liquid carrier and anionic fluorosurfactant. The powder coating may be formed using a liquid-based anionic fluorosurfactant wherein the solids content of the anionic fluorosurfactant within the precursor is from about 13 wt. % to about 28 wt. %.
PRO GEL CAP STYLE MULTIFUNCTIONAL COMPOSITION
A method for creating a multi-functional additive for fusion powder coating compositions that is made from a binder system platform so as to replace the need for multiple conventional additives. The method calls for the multi-functional additive to be provided to fusion powder coating compositions by way of a carrier system selected from (3-aminopropyl) trimethoxysilane (TMS), silicon dioxide (at 45 to 55% active levels), and a flow aid comprising a polyethylene resin, a polyester hydroxyl resin, a polymeric curative, degassing agent, ricinoleic acid, and glass flake.

THERMOSETTING POWDER COATING COMPOSITIONS HAVING LOWER CHALK-FREE TEMPERATURE
The invention relates to thermosetting powder coating compositions as these are disclosed herein. The compositions comprise A) unsaturated resin(s) comprising ethylenic unsaturations selected from the group consisting of polyester resins, polyurethanes, epoxy resins, polyamides, polyesteramides, polycarbonates, polyureas and mixtures thereof; and B) curing agent(s) selected from the group consisting of certain vinyl urethanes, vinyl functionalized urethane resins and mixtures thereof; and C) thermal radical initiator(s) selected from the group consisting of organic peroxides, azo compounds, and mixtures thereof; and D) co-initiator(s) selected from the group consisting of certain onium compounds, sulpho-compounds, and mixtures thereof; and E) inhibitor(s) selected from the group consisting of phenolic compounds, stable radicals, catechols, phenothiazines, hydroquinones, benzoquinones and mixtures thereof. The invention further relates to a process for making said thermosetting powder coating compositions and processes for coating an article with said thermosetting powder coating compositions. The invention further relates to cured thermosetting powder coating compositions obtained by curing of the thermosetting powder coating compositions of the invention. The invention further relates to an article having coated thereon said thermosetting powder coating composition as well as to an article having coated and cured thereon said thermosetting powder coating composition. The invention further relates to the use of said thermosetting powder coating compositions, to the use of an article having coated thereon said thermosetting powder coating compositions and to the use of an article having coated and cured thereon said thermosetting powder coating compositions. The invention further relates to various uses of either the thermosetting powder coating compositions of the invention, or the cured thermosetting powder coating compositions of the invention or of articles having coated thereon the thermosetting powder coating composition of the invention, or of articles having coated and cured thereon the thermosetting powder coating composition of the invention. The invention further relates to a method for substantially lowering the T.sub.chalk-free as the latter is defined herein.
FUNCTIONAL POLYESTER AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME
There is described a method for the production of a functional polyester having functional group X. The method comprises the step of melt blending a composition comprising (i) a high number average molecular weight (Mn) polyester having a Mn of ≥6,000 Da; and (ii) a functional compound comprising functional group Y which may be the same as functional group X or be different to functional group X but be operable to form functional group X in the functional polyester. The composition is melt blended such that the high Mn polyester and the functional compound react to produce the functional polyester. The high Mn polyester has a Mn that is higher than the Mn of the functional compound. The present invention extends to functional polyesters produced by the method; aqueous, solventborne and powder coating compositions containing the functional polyester, and articles coated with the said coating compositions.
One-component (1K) thermosetting powder coating compositions for impact resistant and low gloss consistent matt powder coatings
The invention relates to an one-component (1 K) thermosetting powder coating composition A (PCC A). The invention further relates to a process for making the thermosetting powder coating composition A and processes for coating an article with the PCC A. The invention further relates to a cured PCC A. The invention further relates to an article having coated thereon the thermosetting powder coating composition A as well as to an article having coated and cured thereon the thermosetting powder coating composition A. The invention further relates to the use of: the PCC A, the cured PCC A, articles coated with the PCC A, articles having coated and cured thereon the PCC A. The invention further relates to the use of the PCC A for matt powder coatings. The invention further relates to the use of the PCC A for matt and impact resistant powder coatings. The invention further relates to the use of the PCC A for impact resistant matt powder coatings which have also at least sufficient—preferably excellent—low gloss consistency. The invention further relates to the use of the PCC A as described in the claims and as disclosed herein for impact resistant matt powder coatings which have also at least sufficient—preferably excellent low gloss consistency, and also at least sufficient—preferably excellent—batch-to-batch low gloss consistency.
Multi-phase structured UV-curable powder coating resin and preparation method thereof
The present invention provides a multi-phase structured UV-curable powder coating resin and a preparation method thereof, comprising (1) obtaining an emulsion of a liquid UV resin by heating the liquid UV resin and an emulsifier, dispersing, and adding deionized water for emulsification; (2) melting and dispersing a solid UV resin, a phase change agent, an emulsifier, and deionized water; adding the emulsion of the liquid UV resin with stirring to thoroughly mix; temperature is lowered during the stirring to obtain a suspension; (3) press filtering the suspension of the UV-curable powder coating resin to obtain a filter cake; (4) drying and classifying the filter cake to obtain the multi-phase structured UV-curable powder coating resin. The multi-phase structured UV-curable powder coating resin is prepared from the aforementioned method. The present disclosure has the properties of both the liquid and solid UV resin and can be sprayed as a powder coating.
Heat-curable powder coating composition and preparation method thereof
The invention relates to the field of powder coatings, and specifically discloses a heat-curable powder coating composition and a preparation method thereof. The powder coating composition comprises: i) component A comprising at least one amorphous solid polyester resin compound having a Michael donor reactive group; ii) component B comprising at least one amorphous ethylenically unsaturated solid polyester resin with a Michael acceptor reactive group; iii) component C comprising at least one (semi) crystalline solid reactive diluent; iv) component D comprising at least one epoxy group-containing solid substance; v) component E comprising at least one basic catalyst. The present invention also discloses a preparation method of the above heat-curable powder coating composition. By adopting the invention, ultra-low temperature curing can be realized. The curing temperature is as low as 90-110° C., and the curing time is short.
