Polyurethane coating compositions and their use as gel coats
Polyurethane coating compositions are disclosed that include an isocyanate-reactive component that includes a polycyclic polyether polyol that is the reaction product of a reaction mixture that includes a polycyclic polyol starter, and an alkylene oxide, as well as an isocyanate-functional component that includes a non-aromatic polyisocyanate. The polyurethane coating compositions may be particularly useful as a gel coat in the manufacture of glass fiber reinforced plastics.
Method for surface treatment of silicone rubber
A method for surface treatment of a silicone rubber includes: providing the silicone rubber bearing a polar group on a surface of the silicone rubber, and applying a multifunctional compound to the surface of the silicone rubber bearing the polar group to allow the multifunctional compound to react with the polar group to form a coating.
Durability-enhanced thermochromic film and method of manufacturing same
A process for fabricating a thermochromic film is disclosed which includes the steps of dispersing a predetermined amount of vanadium dioxide (VO.sub.2) nanoparticles in a predetermined amount of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), stirring a mixture thereof for a first predetermined amount of time, generating cross-links to molecule chains of the PMMA in the mixture, and blade coating a predetermined thickness of the cross-linked mixture on a substrate to form the thermochromic film.
Modified plastic surfaces with perfluoropolymers and method for producing same
Modified plastic surfaces with perfluoropolymers are provided, whereby plastic surfaces that are intended for use under tribological conditions have substantially improved assembly properties and/or sliding friction properties and exhibit a very low degree of wear. Accordingly, modified plastic surfaces with perfluoropolymers are provided in which modified perfluoropolymer (micro)powders are present at the surface of plastics that comprise olefinically unsaturated double bonds at least at the surface such that the modified perfluoropolymer (micro)powders are chemically covalently bonded via a radical coupling of the olefinically unsaturated double bonds with perfluoropolymer (peroxy) radicals of the modified perfluoropolymer (micro)powders after a reactive conversion under mechanical stress at room temperature.

Disclosed is a resinous adhesion promoter comprising (a) a random copolymer having first and second constitutional monomeric units, the first units comprising halogen and/or a pendant organic group having six or more carbon atoms and the second monomeric units comprising an active hydrogen-containing functional group; and (b) one of either (i) a non-reactive adhesion promoter or (ii) a reaction mixture comprising a first component and a second component, at least one of the first and second components having functional groups being reactive with the active hydrogen-containing functional groups of the random copolymer.
Cartilage mimetic gels
A cartilage mimetic gel includes double network hydrogels. The double network hydrogels comprise a first crosslinked network and a second crosslinked network. The first crosslinked network can be formed from poly(2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid). The second crosslinked network can be formed from poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide-co-acrylamide).
MOISTURE BARRIER LAMINATED FILM
A moisture barrier laminated film (10) includes: a plastic film (A) having an inorganic barrier layer (A1); a moisture trapping layer (B) containing an alkali component; and a coating layer (C) provided between the inorganic barrier layer (A1) and the moisture trapping layer (B). In the coating layer (C), a moisture permeability at 40° C. and 90%RH is 6.0 × 10.sup.4 g/m.sup.2/day or less, and a storage modulus E′ (at 2π rad/s) in viscoelasticity measurement at 85° C. is 30 MPa or more.
Composite component
The invention relates to a composite component that has improved bonding properties and includes a substrate (i) made of a thermoplastic polymer blend composition, and a coating (ii); in a layer located 5 to 10 μm below the boundary surface between the substrate (i) and the coating (ii), the substrate (i) has a dispersed, non-lamellar phase structure. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing the composite component.
