A copolymer may include ethylene and vinyl acetate, in which the ethylene is at least partially obtained from a renewable source of carbon. Embodiments may also be directed to curable polymer compositions, expandable polymer compositions, articles, cured articles, and expanded articles formed from or including such copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate, in which the ethylene is at least partially obtained from a renewable source of carbon. A process for producing an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer may include polymerizing ethylene at least partially obtained from a renewable source of carbon with vinyl acetate to produce the ethylene vinyl actate copolymer.
FOAMS AND METHOD OF FORMING FOAMS OF IONOMERS OF COPOLYMERS OF VINYLIDENE AROMATIC MONOMER AND UNSATURATED COMPOUNDS WITH ACID GROUPS
A foaming composition useful to make an extruded foam is comprised of comprising a plurality of chains of a copolymer of one or more vinylidene aromatic monomers and one or more unsaturated acids, the copolymer having about 0.01 to about 15.0 percent by weight of the one or more unsaturated acids wherein the acid groups are pendant from the copolymer a metal salt, metal oxide or combination thereof, the metal having a valence of at least 2; and one or more blowing agents. The foaming composition may be made into a foam by heating the foaming composition to a temperature sufficient to melt and ionically crosslink said copolymer which is then extruded through a die forming a foam. The foam is comprised of an ionically crosslinked aforementioned copolymer, wherein the copolymer is crosslinked through ionic bonds between the unsaturated acids and the metal of the metal salt or metal oxide.
Polyol component and use thereof for the production of rigid polyurethane foams
A polyol component P) contains at least three different polyether polyols A) to C), and at least one polyether ester polyol D). A process for producing rigid polyurethane foams using the polyol component P) and the rigid polyurethane foams produced therefrom can be utilized.
Organic carbonate as blowing agent
A thermally expandable composition that comprises at least one organic compound having at least one cyclic carbonate group as a blowing agent, at least one catalyst for the blowing agent, at least one reactive binder and at least one hardener and/or accelerator. Also provided are molded bodies containing the composition, and a method for sealing and filling hollow spaces in components, in order to strengthen or stiffen components, in particular hollow components, and for adhering movable components through use of molded bodies of this type, as well as to the use of corresponding cyclic organic carbonates as a blowing agent in thermally expandable compositions.
Alkali metal bicarbonate particles with increased dissolution time
Powder compositions comprising alkali metal bicarbonate particles and an additive. A process for preparing alkali metal bicarbonate particles by spray-drying of an aqueous solution or suspension comprising 1-10% by weight of alkali metal bicarbonate and a resin acid or a fatty acid as additive. A process for preparing alkali metal bicarbonate particles by co-grinding the alkali metal bicarbonate in the presence of a resin acid as additive. A process for preparing alkali metal bicarbonate particles by fluidized bed coating of the alkali metal bicarbonate in the presence of a resin acid, fatty acid or a wax as additive.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A FOAMED GRANULATE AND USE THEREOF
The invention relates to a method in which a polyester melt containing one or more polyesters is produced, the polyester melt being foamed by a blowing agent and a foamed granulate is produced from the foamed polyester melt. The intrinsic viscosity (IV) of the polyester melt is reduced by the blowing agent about at least 0.05 dl/g, measured according to ASTM D4603, and the IV of the foamed granulate is then increased by means of a solid phase polycondensation (SSP).
Liquid resin composition
A liquid resin composition may include a base resin (A) in an amount of 100 parts by weight, a chemical foaming agent (B) in an amount of 2 parts by weight or more and 100 parts by weight or less, and water (C) in an amount of 1 part by weight or more and 30 parts by weight or less. The base resin may be a polymer that includes a hydrolyzable group bonded to a silicon atom, at least one reactive silicon group that is capable of being crosslinked by forming a siloxane bond, and a main chain that is constituted by an oxyalkylene-based monomer unit. The chemical foaming agent (B) may include a bicarbonate (B-1) and an acidic compound (B-2) having an acid dissociation constant pKa of 3.0 or less.
RESIN COMPOSITION FOR FOAM, FOAM, AND PRODUCTION METHOD OF FOAM
Provided is a resin composition for a foam that may include a base resin having a reactive silicon group (A), a chemical foaming agent (B), and a silanol condensation catalyst (D), wherein the chemical foaming agent (B) comprises a dicarbonate diester (B-1). Further provided is a method for producing a foam, that may include: a mixing step of mixing a liquid, which may include a base resin having a reactive silicon group (A) and a dicarbonate diester (B-1), with a silanol condensation catalyst (D) to obtain a mixed liquid, wherein in the mixed liquid, a rate of foaming effected by decomposition of the dicarbonate diester (B-1), and a rate of a curing reaction of the mixed liquid effected by a reaction between the reactive silicon groups may each be adjusted, such that a foam having an expansion ratio of 2-fold or more and 60-fold or less is obtained.
