An object of the present invention is to provide a modified silicone resin foam that can be foamed without generating hydrogen as a by-product, while maintaining excellent texture and flexibility. The present invention provides a modified silicone resin foam obtained by curing a foamable liquid resin composition, the foamable liquid resin composition containing 100 parts by weight of a base resin, 0.1 to 5 parts by weight of a silanol condensation catalyst, and 2 to 40 parts by weight of a chemical foaming agent, the base resin including a polymer having in its molecular chain at least one silyl group that contains a hydrolyzable group bonded to a silicon atom and can be crosslinked by forming a siloxane bond, the polymer having a backbone composed of oxyalkylene units, the foam having an ASKER FP hardness of 60 or less in a 25° C. atmosphere.

There is provided a method of producing a foamed molded product, including: plasticizing and melting a resin material containing a thermoplastic resin and a chemical foaming agent in a plasticizing cylinder in which a screw is provided, to provide a molten resin containing the chemical foaming agent; supplying a fluid with a fixed pressure into the plasticizing cylinder to pressurize the molten resin; and performing foam molding of the molten resin. The resin material contains 0.1 to 2% by weight of the chemical foaming agent.

The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a method of making a foam, specifically, the development of isocyanate-free foams using at least one unsaturated polyester. The at least one unsaturated polyester is a reaction product of at least one unsaturated cyclic anhydride, dicyclopentadiene, and at least one polyol. The disclosed formulation further comprises at least one reactive diluent and at least one initiator. The disclosed formulations are cured by a free radical mechanism.

A chemical blowing agent for foaming a thermoplastic polymer, for example PVC plastisol or a polymer resin in an extrusion process, said chemical blowing agent comprising a functionalized particulate bicarbonate containing at least one polyoxyalkylene additive, preferably excluding an exothermic blowing agent. The polyoxyalkylene additive may be selected from the group consisting of polyoxyalkylenes, any derivative thereof, salts thereof, and any combinations thereof. The particulate bicarbonate may be preferably functionalized by spray-coating, extrusion or co-grinding with at least one polyoxyalkylene additive. The functionalized particulate bicarbonate may comprise 50 wt % to less than 100 wt % of the bicarbonate component, and 0.02-50 wt % of the additive. The functionalized particulate bicarbonate may further comprise 0.1-5 wt % silica. A foamable polymer composition comprising such chemical blowing agent. A process for manufacturing a foamed polymer, such as foamed PVC, comprising shaping and heating the foamable polymer composition, and a foamed polymer obtained by such process.
