A one component spray polyurethane foam formulation containing a polymeric isocyanate with nominal functionality of 2.5 to 3.5, a polyol component that is at least 85 percent aliphatic and having a mole ratio of polyol with three or more functionality to total polyol of 0.2 to 0.75, 15-30 wt % of a plasticizer, 1.5-3.5 wt % phosphorous, 5.5 to 11.5 halogen and 1.5 to 5 millimoles of blowing agent per gram of formulation and that is free of expandable graphite achieves a B2 rating in DIN 4102 testing.
Low pressure process for frothing polyurethane or polyisocyanurate
A process of making a polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foam comprises the step of mixing under low pressure: (A) An isocyanate; (B) A compound reactive with the isocyanate, e.g., a polyol; (C) A liquid blowing agent; and (D) Carbon dioxide.
One component isocyanate prepolymer mixture for polyurethane product formulation in a single step process
A one component isocyanate prepolymer mixture for formulating a polyurethane product in a single step process, with monomeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) content in the mixture not exceeding 3%, preferably less than 2%, more preferably less than 1% of the total weight. The mixture contains monofunctional alcohol, an isocyanate component or isocyanate mixture component, propellant, catalyst, stabiliser, and one or more polyols. The monofunctional alcohol constitutes ethylene glycol ethers or propylene glycol ethers. A method for formulating a one component polyurethane foam on the basis of the mixture is disclosed.
Roofing systems and roofing boards with non-halogenated fire retardant
According to one embodiment, a halogen free roof system is described. The roof system includes a structural deck that is positioned above joists or other support members. Polyisocyanurate foam insulation is positioned atop the structural deck. The polyisocyanurate foam insulation has an isocyanate index greater than 200 and includes a polyisocyanurate core having a halogen free fire retardant. A water proof membrane is positioned atop the polyisocyanurate foam insulation. The polyisocyanurate core is able to form a sufficiently stable char when exposed to flame conditions such that the polyisocyanurate core is able to pass the ASTM E-84 test.
COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING 1,2-DICHLORO-1,2-DIFLUOROETHYLENE FOR USE IN FOAM BLOWING APPLICATIONS
This invention relates to compositions comprising 1,2-dichloro-1,2-difluoroethylene (i.e., CFO-1112) and an additional component. The compositions described herein may be useful, for example, in foam blowing applications.
MULTI-COMPONENT SYSTEMS FOR PREPARING FOAMED PRODUCTS
Foamed products are produced using multi-component systems which are advantageously free of isocyanate. The components of the systems are combined, with the resulting mixture then undergoing curing and foaming to provide a foamed product, wherein the characteristics of the foamed product may be varied by selecting particular reactants to be present in the multi-component system. The systems employ at least one (meth)acrylate compound having two or more (meth)acrylate functional groups per molecule, at least one thiol compound having two or more thiol functional groups per molecule, at least one free radical initiator, at least one blowing agent, at least one surfactant, and optionally at least one promoter for the free radical initiator.
Azeotrope-like compositions comprising trans-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene
An azeotrope-like mixture consisting essentially of chlorotrifluoropropene and at least one component selected from the group consisting of pentane, hexane, methanol, and trans-1,2-dichloroethene.
Novel particle foams
A process can be used for producing a thermoplastic polyurethane, where the process at least involves converting at least one isocyanate composition and a polyol composition, to obtain a prepolymer having isocyanate groups, and reacting the resulting prepolymer with at least one chain extender. The at least one isocyanate composition contains an isocyanate selected from naphthylene 1,5-diisocyanate (NDI), diphenylmethane 4,4′-diisocyanate (MDI), p-phenyl diisocyanate (PPDI), o-tolidine diisocyanate (TODI), ethylene diphenyl diisocyanate (EDI), or mixtures thereof. The polyol composition contains a polytetrahydrofuran or a derivative thereof. A thermoplastic polyurethane obtained or obtainable by such a process is useful, and a foamed pellet material can be produced containing such a thermoplastic polyurethane. The foamed pellet material of the invention can be used for production of a molded article.
USE OF A COMPOSITION FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF A FOAMED ARTICLE
The present invention relates to the use of a composition comprising 60-98 wt. % of polypropylene, 2-40 wt. % of low density polyethylene, 0.1-10 wt. % of compatibiliser wherein the compatibiliser is a BAB or AB type of block copolymer comprising a polypropylene block A and a polyester block B, or wherein the compatibiliser is a graft copolymer of the type ABn having a polypropylene backbone A and polyester block(s) B grafted thereon, with n being at least 1, and the polyester block(s) B have an average M/F ratio from 8-32, wherein M is the number of backbone carbon atoms in the polyester not including carbonyl carbon atoms, and F is the number of ester groups in the polyester block(s), wherein the wt. % is based on the sum of the amount polypropylene, low density polyethylene and compatibiliser, for the manufacture of a foamed article.
