EPOXY BASED REINFORCING PATCHES HAVING IMPROVED DAMPING LOSS FACTOR
A reinforcing sheet including one or more layers of a reinforcing material, and a thermosetting adhesive associated with the reinforcing material, wherein the thermosetting adhesive includes a curing agent, and an epoxy-modified dimerized fatty acid combined with an epoxy terminated polyurethane interpenetrating network.
MICROPOROUS DRY ADHESIVE FILMS, METHODS OF MAKING, AND METHODS OF USE
Provided herein are materials, methods of making materials, and methods of use, wherein the materials have switchable adhesive properties. Materials of the present disclosure can reversibly change coloration in conjunction with the changing adhesive state. The films, made from a porous polymer material, can be reversibly changed from a smooth state to a rough state, allowing for reversible and tunable gripping and/or adhesive properties.
System and method for flexible sealant with density modifier
The disclosed latex system comprises a one-component, closed-cell, semi-foam, mastic sealant using gas-filled, flexible, organic microspheres to create a product that is elastic and compressible under pressure without protruding in an outward direction when compressed, thereby allowing the applied sealant to compress in an enclosed, maximum-filled channel unlike typical mastic sealants (while retaining the ability to rebound). This allows the sealant to function as a gasket, and, once fully cured, to have properties including vibration damping, insulating, and condensation resistance. The sealant can be formulated as an air barrier or a vapor barrier and at various degrees of moisture resistance. It may be applied by different packaging variations including aerosol can (bag in can or bag on valve), airless sprayer, cartridge tubes, foil tubes, squeeze tubes, and buckets to be applied using a brush, trowel, spatula, etc. The disclosed mastic sealant can also be formulated to be smoke-resistant and flame-resistant.
Resin sheet and adhesive-layer-having resin sheet
A resin sheet with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer including the resin sheet. The resin sheet including a main surface A and a main surface B opposite to each other across a thickness “d”, where the resin sheet has a 50% compression load of 20 N/cm.sup.2 or less at 23±5° C. in a direction of the thickness “d”, which is measured in conformity with a method of measuring a compression hardness described in JIS K 6767:1999; where the resin sheet has a Poisson's ratio at 23° C. of 0.10 or less; and the resin sheet has a thickness recovery ratio of 40% or more when compressed by 20% in the direction of the thickness “d” at 23° C.
ADHESIVE TAPE, BACKLIGHT MODULE, DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING BACKLIGHT MODULE
The present disclosure provides an adhesive tape, a backlight module, a display device, and a method for manufacturing a backlight module. The adhesive tape includes: an adhesive body layer; an expandable structure layer on a side of the adhesive body layer and configured to fill a gap between the adhesive tape and a light guide plate of a backlight module through an expansion of the expandable structure layer.
Composite article and related methods
A composite article comprises an article presenting a surface and a thermally expandable composition disposed on the surface of the article. The thermally expandable composition comprises (a) from about 35 to about 65 percent by weight of a polyolefin resin; (b) from about 2 to about 15 percent by weight of a thermoplastic resin; (c) from about 1 to about 6 percent by weight of a curing agent suitable for cross-linking the polyolefin resin (a); (d) from about 15 to about 45 percent by weight of filler; and (e) from about 1 to about 10 percent by weight of a chemical blowing agent which is activated at an activation temperature, each based on the total weight of the thermally expandable composition. Methods of preparing and using the composite article, and an assembly formed from the composite article, are also disclosed.
Resin foam, resin foam sheet, adhesive tape, vehicle member, and building member
The present invention aims to provide a flexible resin foam having excellent shapeability and a resin foam sheet, an adhesive tape, a member for a vehicle, and a member for a building each including the resin foam. Provided is a resin foam having a multitude of cells, the resin foam including: a polyvinyl acetal; and a plasticizer, the resin foam having an elongation strain of 300% or more and a 50% compression stress of 70 kPa or less.
RADIOPAQUE FOAM
Embodiments are directed to a radiopaque foam used to repair composite structures. A method for creating the radiopaque foam comprises providing first and second resin components that are radiolucent to x-ray imaging. A barium sulfate component is combined with the second resin component. After combining the barium sulfate component and the second resin component, the first resin component and the second resin component are mixed to create a pourable foam. An amount of barium sulfate combined with the second resin component is sufficient to render the pourable foam radiopaque to x-ray imaging.
Activatable polymer composition comprising at least two carboxylic acids as blowing agent
The invention relates to a curable volume expandable polymer composition comprising an organic acid component, wherein the organic acid component comprises a first organic acid, a second organic acid, and optionally one or more additional organic acids; wherein said polymer composition, when being heated to an activation of expansion temperature above room temperature, undergoes volume expansion. When the organic acid component is heated to the activation of expansion temperature, the first organic acid and/or the second organic acid and/or the optionally present one or more additional organic acids decarboxylate and thus release carbon dioxide. The polymer composition traps the thus released carbon dioxide thereby causing the polymer composition to undergo volume expansion.
Self-foaming hot melt adhesive compositions and methods of making and using same
The present invention relates to self-foaming hot melt adhesive compositions and methods of making and using the same. Self-foaming hot melt adhesive compositions are formed by admixing a dispersion concentrate including a chemical blowing agent and a compatible carrier (liquid or molten) with a molten base hot melt adhesive composition at a temperature below the decomposition temperature of the chemical blowing agent. The resolidified material is processed through a device that heats the material above the decomposition temperature of the chemical agent and cools it below such temperature before being dispensed. The device preferably includes sensors and a controller configured to prevent the material from accumulating an adverse thermal history during processing.
