Provided herein is a process for treating dregs for the application thereof as vulcanization activator of rubbers, putting an end to this residue generated in the cellulose industry and providing vulcanized rubbers with similar or enhanced properties in relation to those already known. The process for treating dregs includes the steps of: (a) drying the dregs; and (b) micronization of the dry dregs to an average particle size (d50) from 2 to 45 micrometers. Further provided herein are treated dregs, a use of treated dregs as vulcanization activator, and a process for vulcanizing rubber and the vulcanized rubber.

The silica aerogel particles are included in a volume fraction between 2 and 60%, and the composite foam has a thermal conductivity of 40 mW/m?K or less and a density of 60 kg/m.sup.3 or less. In another embodiment, a composite foam is provided having a perforated closed cell polymeric foam and 2-60% hydrophobic silica aerogel particles by volume with a particle size distribution of 1 to 50 ?m, where the composite foam has a thermal conductivity of 30 mW/m?K or less, a density of 20-45 kg/m.sup.3, and an air permeability of 20-40 cubic feet per minute.

The present invention relates to elastomer toothed belts comprising a fabric spanning the teeth of the toothed belt, wherein the elastomer mixture forming the teeth contains a crosslinked ethylene-propylene rubber (EPM) and/or a crosslinked ethylene-propylene terpolymer rubber (EPDM) accounting for at least 70% by weight of the elastomer mixture based on the polymer proportion and wherein an interlayer is arranged between the fabric and the elastomer mixture forming the teeth which contains at least 70% by weight of hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (HNBR) based on the polymer proportion of the interlayer. Such elastomer toothed belts are halogen-free and feature improved durability and good low-temperature stability properties. The present invention further relates to processes for producing such elastomer toothed belts and to the use of a layer of hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (HNBR) in such toothed belts to increase service life, to improve low-temperature stability and to improve the adhesion between the teeth and the fabric.
