A method for producing a polymer latex includes: a preparation step of reducing the weight average molecular weight of a conjugated diene polymer (A) by 20 to 70 mass %, thereby obtaining an organic solvent solution containing a conjugated diene polymer (B) having a weight average molecular weight lower than that of the conjugated diene polymer (A); and an emulsification step of emulsifying the organic solvent solution in water in the presence of a surfactant, thereby obtaining a polymer latex.

SYNTHETIC POLYISOPRENE LATEX CONDOMS WITH REDUCED NITROSAMINE

A synthetic polyisoprene latex emulsion has pre-vulcanization composition and post vulcanization composition. The pre-vulcanization composition comprises insoluble amorphous sulfur extracted with zinc dithiocarbamate catalyst at 20° C. to form sulfur chain and transported to interior of synthetic polyisoprene particle forming physical attachment of sulfur to active sites. The degree of pre-vulcanization is verified by expansion of cast and dried film of latex in toluene in 20 minutes by means of a swelling index test. The latex emulsion is vulcanized at 90° C. to 120° C. for 3 to 5 minutes. Post-vulcanization composition with accelerators crosslink between synthetic polyisoprene particles, uniformly curing both in the inter-particle and intra-particle regions to produce high cross link density, uniform distribution of double bonds with zinc segregation at the boundaries of original particles. The condom exhibits high tensile strength, tensile modulus, elongation with excellent tear strength releasing below 10 ppb of nitrosamines.

SYNTHETIC RUBBER LATEX COMPOSITIONS WITH IONIC LIQUID FOR ELASTOMERIC GLOVES

Provided are compositions and associated methods for producing elastomeric rubber gloves with improved strength and flexibility at desirable glove palm thicknesses. An example elastomeric rubber glove comprises a substrate formed from a composition comprising a synthetic rubber latex, and an ionic liquid. The ionic liquid may comprise a combination of one or more alkyl imidazole ionic salts. The composition may comprise one or more metal oxides, including at least one of zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, cadmium oxide, and aluminum oxide. The synthetic rubber latex compositions were found to yield a material with strength and flexibility characteristics comparable to natural latex gloves of a greater thickness. The described gloves may also be cured without the addition of Sulphur and other vulcanization or rubber accelerators, further reducing the risk of allergies and costs of production.

Method for producing polymer latex

A method for producing a polymer latex, includes a step of emulsifying a polymer solution of a synthetic polyisoprene and/or a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer, in water in the presence of a rosin and/or a rosin metal salt, thereby obtaining an emulsified liquid, wherein the rosin and/or the rosin metal salt to be used have/has a total content rate of abietic acid, neoabietic acid and palustric acid, and salts thereof, of 5% by weight or less.
