This invention is related to a method for producing polymer latex particle coated with silver nanoparticles. First, a polymer latex particle suspension is mixed with a silver nitrate solution in a weight ratio of 10:1 to 1:10 at 50 C. to 90 C. for 10 to 120 minutes to form a mixed solution. After the temperature of the mix solution is cooled to 50 C. to 85 C., a sodium citrate solution is added to react with the mixed solution for 10 to 240 minutes to form a polymer latex particle coated with silver nanoparticles, which has antibacterial activity.

A method for producing a rubber wet masterbatch includes a solidifying step of mixing a slurry solution containing a filler and a dispersing solvent with a rubber latex solution, and solidifying the resultant mixture to produce a filler-containing rubber solidified product, a dehydrating step of using a first uniaxial extruder to dehydrate the filler-containing rubber solidified product while the solidified product is heated into the range of 100 to 180 C., thereby producing a rubber wet masterbatch, and a drying plasticizing step of using a second uniaxial extruder to plasticize the rubber wet masterbatch while the masterbatch is heated into the range of 120 to 180 C, thereby producing the rubber wet masterbatch further decreased in water content by percentage. The method does not have cooling step between the dehydrating step and the drying plasticizing step.

Effervescent texturing

Provided among other things is method of forming texture on an outer surface of an polymer layer of an article, comprising: applying a latex of polymer particles to (a) a support element of the article or (b) a former, to form an polymer layer; applying to the polymer layer discrete particles of carbonic salt so that they embed into the outer surface and gel elastomer adjacent to the carbonic salt; removing the carbonic salt with an aqueous wash; and curing the polymer layer.

Dispersions comprising high surface area nanotubes and discrete carbon nanotubes

The present application pertains to dispersions comprising oxidized, discrete carbon nanotubes and high-surface area carbon nanotubes. The oxidized, discrete carbon nanotubes comprise an interior and exterior surface, each surface comprising an interior surface oxidized species content and an exterior surface oxidized species content. The interior surface oxidized species content differs from the exterior surface oxidized species content by at least 20%, and as high as 100%. The high-surface area nanotubes are generally single-wall nanotubes. The BET surface area of the high-surface area nanotubes is from about 550 m.sup.2/g to about 1500 m.sup.2/g according to ASTM D6556-16. The aspect ratio is at least about 500 up to about 6000. The dispersions comprise from about 0.1 to about 30% by weight nanotubes based on the total weight of the dispersion.

Methods of using a phenolic fatty acid compound on a synthetic fabric material

This invention relates to a process for making phenolic fatty acid compounds having a reduced phenolic ester content. The invention also relates to method for chemically bonding a phenolic resin with a non-phenolic polymer (e.g., a synthetic fabric). The method comprises contacting a phenolic fatty acid compound with a non-phenolic polymer to introduce a hydroxy phenyl functional group into the non-phenolic polymer; and reacting the hydroxy phenyl functional group contained in the non-phenolic polymer with a phenolic resin or a phenolic crosslinker composition capable of forming a phenolic resin, to chemically bond the phenolic resin with the non-phenolic polymer. The invention is particularly useful for making a synthetic fabric-reinforced article, such as synthetic fabric-reinforced rubber article, circuit board substrate, or fiberglass.

LATEX FORMULATION FOR MAKING ELASTOMERIC PRODUCTS

A latex formulation for making elastomeric product, more particularly an elastomeric glove comprising a mixture of at least one base polymer, a cross-linker; and a pH adjustor, where the pH adjustor providing a pH range of 9.5 to 10.5. Still further, the present invention discloses a method for preparing a latex formulation for making elastomeric product, more particularly an elastomeric glove without using accelerators, zinc oxide and sulphur, which comprises the steps of mixing a base polymer with a pH adjuster, stirring the mixture for time period ranging from 20 minutes to 30 minutes, adding a cross-linker to the mixture, stirring said mixture for an hour, optionally adding at least one or more additive to said mixture, adding water to said mixture to achieve a total solid content (TSC) ranging in between 13% to 30% by w/w, allowing said mixture to mature.

GLOVE COATING AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS

This invention relates to an elastomeric article with improved lubricity and donnablity and reduced stickiness/tackiness. According to the methods of the invention, the internal surface of the elastomeric article is coated with a polyisoprene coating. The coating of the invention is formed from synthetic polyisoprene rubber that may or may not contain minor amounts of other components. The coating is preferably directly bonded to the underlying elastomeric article.

The present invention relates to a process for making a polymer masterbatch with silica nanoparticles highly uniformly dispersed therein by using a stable aqueous emulsion of compatibilized silica nanoparticles, the sizes of which are mechanically reduced to nanoscales. Adequate reduction of the silica particles to nanoscales is essential for the formation of a desired emulsion of highly stability. The said emulsion of compatibilized silica nanoparticle can be easily mixed under mild conditions with a polymer in latex form, which can be high purity natural rubber, synthetic rubber and/or a blend thereof. The bifunctional organosilane coupling agent bonded-Silica nanoparticles are subsequently incorporated into the rubber polymer network during coagulation with formic acid. The inventive rubber-silica masterbatch thus obtained is useful for manufacturing rubber and other polymer composite products.
