Rigid Polyurethane Based Foam with Compression Strength and Fire Resistance
Described herein is a method for the preparation of a rigid polyisocyanate based foam, including mixing (a) polyisocyanate, (b) at least one compound having at least two hydrogen atoms reactive towards isocyanates, (c) optionally flame retardant, (d) blowing agent, (e) catalyst and (f) optionally further additives, to form a reaction mixture and reacting the reaction mixture to obtain the polyurethane based rigid foam where the compound reactive towards isocyanates (b) includes an aromatic polyetherpolyol (b2) and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an aromatic polyesterpolyol (b1) and a polyetherpolyol (b3) different from polyether (b2). Also described herein is a rigid polyisocyanate based foam obtained from such a method and a polyol component for the production of a polyisocyanate based foam.
Method of manufacturing a particle foam part
The invention concerns a process and a device for producing a particle foam part. The method comprises the steps of feeding foam particles into a mould space of a mould, welding the foam particles in the mould space under application of a predetermined pressure, wherein the foam particles comprise a proportion of at least 10% by weight of recycled, shredded foam particles and the welding of the foam particles takes place by means of electromagnetic waves.
RESIN COMPOSITIONS FOR OPTICAL FILMS
Compositions, laminates, films and/or composites made from thermoplastic polymers, such as thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) are described. The films have one or more optical layers made from materials that allow the transmission of visible light and reflect or absorb UV light. An optical film is made from one or more TPU resins including a first UV absorber of the benzotriazole family or the triazin family, a light stabilizer, and a second UV absorber selected from a group consisting of benzotriazoles, benzophenones, triazin or benzylidene malonate. The second UV absorber may be present in a base resin combined with the TPU resin. The optical film is capable of blocking at least 99% of light having a wavelength
SYNTHESIS OF A POLYURETHANE FOAM INCORPORATING INDUSTRIAL BYPRODUCTS OR WASTE
A process includes calcining a high potassium carbonaceous waste product to form potassium oxide and carbon dioxide and reacting the potassium oxide and carbon dioxide to yield bio-based potassium carbonate. The process also includes catalyzing a reaction of a lignocellulosic biomass with abundant hydroxyl groups into a biopolyol using the bio-based potassium carbonate and brominating using a brominating agent a triglyceride to form a bio-isocyanate. In addition, the process includes reacting the biopolyol and the bio-isocyanate to form a polyurethane foam.
Polymer materials
Polyurethane material for indicating pH at a locus, preferably as indication of presence of microbes, comprising a polyurethane network having immobilised therein one or more hydrophilic copolymers, the or each said copolymer comprising: hydrophilic monomer; and indicating monomer, which provides an indication in response to a change in hydrophilic state of said hydrophilic monomer and/or copolymer; characterised in that the or each copolymer further comprises one or a plurality of ionisable groups or moieties or polymerisable monomers having one or more characteristic pKa values in the range 5 to 10 and which are responsive to pH at the locus in the range pH 5 to pH 10 and in that hydrophilic state of hydrophilic copolymer is dependent on ionisation of said ionisable groups, moieties or monomers; kit and device comprising the material and process for preparation thereof; and use in detecting or sensing microbes or pH.
Elastic membrane
The invention relates to an elastic membrane comprising an elastomer having an elongation at break of greater than 150% measured according to DIN 53504, wherein the thermoplastic elastomer (P1) comprises a polyurethane elastomer based on the following components: 11 % to 79% by weight of a mixture of at least one diol (D1) and at least one isocyanate (I1), 21% to 89% by weight of at least one compound (C1) having at least two isocyanate-reactive groups.
Polyurethane foams co-blown with a mixture of a hydrocarbon and a halogenated olefin
This invention relates to rigid polyurethane foams which are co-blown with a mixture of a hydrocarbon blowing agent and a halogenated olefin blowing agent. This invention also relates to a process for preparing these rigid polyurethane foams, and to an isocyanate-reactive component containing a polyol blend and the mixture of blowing agents. Phase stable isocyanate-reactive blends are also described.
