INSECT BAIT COMPOSITION AND METHODS OF USE OF THE SAME
Disclosed herein are bait formulations for attracting and controlling pest insects such as ants. The bait compositions include a specific ratio of lipids and protein sources that are effective in both discovery and recruitment and are superior to current commercial ant bait formulations as they are effective throughout the different seasons and against diverse species of ants. The ant bait compositions may be combined with an insecticide to reduce or eliminate ant populations. Methods for making and using the compositions are also disclosed.
NATURAL ANTI-MICROBIAL COMBINATION IN STABLE DRY POWDERED FORM
An antimicrobial powder, which includes a low molecular weight antimicrobial organic acid and a hygroscopic ingredient, is prepared according to a process wherein the components are combined in a solution to form a liquid slurry composition prior to drying to form a powder, such that drying the liquid slurry composition involves co-drying the components. The low molecular weight antimicrobial organic acid in the antimicrobial powder can be present in a crystal phase of both anhydrous and hydrate forms. The antimicrobial powder exhibits excellent properties, such as shelf stability, without the requirement of encapsulating agents. Methods for preparing the antimicrobial powders as well as applications of the antimicrobial powders in food and beverage products are also disclosed.

Insect Bait
An insect-trap olfactory bait is formed by processing fish (for example, by using a salt) and then aging the processed fish. The processing can then be reversed at least in part (for example, by rinsing away some salt) following which the resultant fish parts are placed in contact with an alcohol. Solid remnants of the resultant fish parts are later separated from the alcohol to thus provide an olfactory fish extract infused liquid filtrate. These teachings will accommodate, during at least a portion of such a process, dehydrating the fish parts. By another approach, in lieu of the foregoing or in combination therewith, these teachings will accommodate, prior to separating solid remnants of the resultant fish part from the alcohol, comminuting the fish parts to thereby reduce the overall average size and density of the solid fish material.
Feral Hog Toxicant
A composition and method for killing feral hogs: a bait that is attractive to hogs is mixed with a lethal amount of sodium nitrite, along with sufficient base to inhibit decomposition of the sodium nitrite. At sufficiently high pH, encapsulation of the sodium nitrite is not required to inhibit decomposition. In the absence of substantial decomposition, the sodium nitrite itself is not aversive to the pigs, and may even enhance acceptance of the baits by the pigs. Optionally, an anti-emetic compound is added to the mixture to reduce the likelihood the bait will be vomited. Optionally, an additional toxicant such as luteolin is added to the mixture.

System and Method for the Production of Attractants for Pest Traps
A system/method for producing a substance attractive to one or more species of insect characterised by: housing a population of live insects; providing any combination of nutrients, food or water to the live insects; removing organic matter from the population; and sterilizing the removed organic matter.
Bees attracting and bee tranquilizing composition and their use in agriculture, horticulture and apiculture
A bee attracting and bee tranquilizing composition has the form of an oil/water emulsion in aqueous phase, wherein the oil phase contains citral (3,7-dimethylocta-2,6-dienal), eugenol (4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol) and an oil carrier in an amount of 10% to 50% by weight of the composition, wherein the weight ratio of citral to eugenol is in a range from 1 to 10, and more preferably in a range from 1.7 to 5, and the aqueous phase contains a sweetener in an amount of 15% to 60% by weight based on the total weight of the aqueous phase. The sweetener is preferably selected from the group including: saccharose, fructose, glucose, sugar, inverted sugar syrup, maltose syrup and mixtures thereof. The invention also relates to methods and uses of such a composition for increasing the productivity of a crop area requiring bee pollination in agricultural and/or horticultural environments.
