POLYURETHANE ELASTOMERS, BIO-ADDITIVE COMPOSITIONS

A polyurethane elastomer, which can be a foam, generated from (a) an organic diisocyanate, (b) a polyester resin, (c) a chain extender comprised of a polyhydric alcohol, (d) a crosslinker, (e) a plasticizer, (f) a surfactant, (g) a bio-additive, (h) a blowing agent, and (i) an optional dye; and optionally where the elastomer has, for example, a hardness value of, for example, from about 15 Asker C to about 60 Asker C, a tensile strength of from about 1 MPa to about 10 MPa, a resilience of from about 30 percent to about 60 percent, an elongation at break of from about 150 percent to about 700 percent, and a tear strength from about 2 Newtons/millimeters to about 4 Newtons/millimeters, and which elastomers can be selected for footwear.

Water-soluble polysaccharide derivatives, process for their preparation, and their uses

A neutral salt consisting of a polyaminosaccharide cation and an anion, as well as a procedure for the preparation of the neutral salt and uses thereof as a biomaterial and as an ingredient in pharmaceutical compositions are disclosed. Indeed, said neutral salt has surprisingly exhibited high water-solubility and high purity, the preparation procedure having minimised the content of high-risk contaminants in the final product and reduced reaction and purification times.

Devices and methods related to a chitosan-enhanced melamine sponge are provided. A method comprises grafting chitosan on the melamine sponge matrix via the chemical with two or more carboxyl groups; and crosslinking the chitosan with crosslinker under a heating procedure to make a more robust melamine sponge with a larger surface and smaller pores. The chitosan-enhanced melamine sponge is used to separate chemicals from water as a gravity flow-driven filter, and it can be compressed and backwashed for regeneration.

Polysaccharide aerogel

Disclosed herein is a polysaccharide aerogel comprising cotton cellulose fibres and a method of preparing the polysaccharide aerogel. The method comprises: mixing cotton cellulose fibres and a cross-linker to form a mixture; sonicating the mixture; freezing the sonicated mixture; and freeze drying the frozen mixture to form an aerogel. A further embodiment provides a polysaccharide aerogel comprising cotton cellulose fibres and paper cellulose fibres in a weight ratio of 1:1 to 1:6 and a method of preparation thereof wherein in the mixing step, the paper cellulose fibres are added to the cotton cellulose fibres to form a mixture.
