POLYMER COMPOSITION AND PROCESS FOR COATING EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE WITH THE POLYMER COMPOSITION
A polymer composition for coating expanded polystyrene (EPS) is provided, the polymer composition includes a mixture of at least one of polyurea, polyurethane, silicon elastomer, and combination thereof in a predefined ratio. The polymer composition imparts desired properties such as high impact and abrasion resistance, elongation strength, and anti-static property along with flexural strength to the EPS. The present invention also provides the process for coating the polymer composition onto the EPS. The matrix coating process provides much stronger bonding due to overlap of coating of the polymer composition on the sides of the EPS and reduces the wastage of the polymer composition during the coating of the EPS. The present invention also provides the EPS coated with the polymer composition. The EPS coated with the polymer composition possesses the properties such as high impact resistance, abrasion resistance, elongation strength, flexural strength, and anti-static property.
ECO-FRIENDLY WEARABLE DIPPED ARTICLE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
The present invention generally relates to an eco-friendly wearable article comprising a nutrient complex capable of efficiently able to reduce or eliminate methane gas emission during biodegradation of the article, and a method of making the eco-friendly wearable article containing the nutrient complex. Preferably, the nutrient complex typically comprises anionic sulphate ions and cationic salts of iron(II) and copper(II), thereby facilitating methane oxidation in an anaerobic environment such as a landfill.
Method of using water erodible marine antifouling coating
A method is described for inhibiting marine fouling on a surface. The surface is contacted with a composition comprising a waterborne polyurethane that is crosslinked with an acrylic acid functionalized polysaccharide, water, and a preservative. The composition is then dried to form a deposited film. The polysaccharide may be xanthan.
2K PU-DUAL CURE ADHESIVE FOR LAMINATION
Disclosed herein are a two-component polyurethane adhesive and a dual cure polyurethane-based adhesive for use in laminated films. The adhesives are particularly useful for producing photochromic and clear-to-polarized laminates for ophthalmic lens applications.
LIGHT-TRANSMITTING DECORATED MOLDING ARTICLE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME
A method of fabricating a decorated molding article includes forming an all-in-one coating on a substrate and performing a curing step, thereby forming a composite layer structure with a protective effect, a color effect, and a bonding effect. The composite layer structure may form a molded film with better physical properties (e.g., higher hardness, better protection effect, and the like) after the blister molding process. Therefore, the molded film of the embodiments may be applied to a laser engraving process to form a variety of light-transmitting decorated molding articles.
Spatially addressable nanovoided polymers
Examples include a device including a nanovoided polymer element having a first surface and a second surface, a first plurality of electrodes disposed on the first surface, a second plurality of electrodes disposed on the second surface, and a control circuit configured to apply an electrical potential between one or more of the first plurality of electrodes and one or more of the second plurality of electrodes to induce a physical deformation of the nanovoided polymer element.
Elimination of surfacing film and primer from composite substrates
Co-curable epoxy-based composite materials coated with co-curable polyurethane-based coating materials to form co-curable and co-cured polyurethane coated epoxy-based composite materials, with the polyurethane-based coating materials comprising UV-stabilizer agents and cure control agents are disclosed, along with components and large structures comprising the co-cured materials.
COMPOSITION AND CURED PRODUCT THEREOF
Provided is a composition capable of forming a cured product excelling in adhesion to a substrate, hardness, scratch resistance, and chemical resistance. The composition of the present disclosure contains a polyol compound (A) and an isocyanate compound (B) The polyol compound (A) includes a compound (a1) represented by Formula (1) below, where R.sup.1 to R.sup.3 each are a group represented by Formula (1a), the compound (a1) having a number average molecular weight (calibrated with polystyrene standard) of 800 or greater. The isocyanate compound (B) includes a polyisocyanate compound having an isocyanurate skeleton.
Modulating fabric diffusivity using tether-containing conducting polymers
An interpenetrating network (IPN) polymer membrane material includes a soft polyurethane interspersed with a crosslinked conducting polymer. The material can be reversibly “switched” between its oxidized and reduced states by the application of a small voltage, ˜1 to 4 volts, thus modulating its diffusivity.
Heating of polymeric materials
A material susceptible to dielectric heating has a base polymeric thermoplastic material (1) and a dielectric heating susceptor (2, 3) which increases susceptibility to heating by irradiation with electromagnetic, for example RF or microwave, radiation. The dielectric heating susceptor has a polymeric material (2) such as PVDF which is different from the base polymeric material and has a higher dielectric loss factor than the base polymeric material. The dielectric heating susceptor also comprises electrically polarisable entities such as carbon black dispersed within the base polymeric material without forming a conductive network. The two susceptor materials in combination with the base polymer are particularly effective together at improving susceptibility to electromagnetic radiation heating of the whole material.
