Method for producing a vessel closure

The invention relates to a method for producing a vessel closure for vessels comprising an opening that is to be closed by the vessel closure, an inner diameter of more than two cm and surrounds a polymer-based sealing element that is arranged in the vessel closure in such a manner that is sealingly rests on the opening of the vessel in the closed state. A polymer material becomes sufficiently free-flowing by warming and is applied to the vessel closure in the region of the sealing element that is to be produced, and optionally, is mechanically formed into the desired shape which it maintains after cooling. The invention also relates to a metal or plastic vessel closures for vessels for receiving drinks or food, and comprises a sealing insert, the material thereof being selected so that the migration of material components into the drink or food, that are a health risk, is prevented. The invention also relates to corresponding materials for said type of sealing inserts and to the use of specific polymers for producing the above-mentioned sealing inserts.

ARTICLE COMPRISING LIGHT ABSORBENT COMPOSITION TO MASK VISUAL HAZE AND RELATED METHOD

A transparent article includes a continuous polyester matrix having at least one incompatible filler dispersed therein. The incompatible filler provides domains in the polyester matrix, each domain having a particular dimension, thus providing a range of dimensions for the domains in the article. To create haze, the dimensions are within the range of from about 380 nm to about 720 nm. Once the range of dimensions is determined, a light absorbent composition can be found which absorbs light at a range of wavelengths that at least substantially covers the range of dimensions of the domains. In doing so, it has been found that the haze of the article can be substantially masked. Method for producing the article and for masking the haze are also provided.

SHORT-CHAIN FLUOROCARBON-GRAFTED ELASTOMER BLOWOUT PREVENTER PACKERS AND SEALS FOR ENHANCED H2S RESISTANCE

A packer unit to be used in an annular blowout preventer. The packer unit includes an elastomer body including a compound of a nitrile rubber base polymer having a polymer chain, and a quantity of fluorine atoms attached to the polymer chain. The compound includes between 50 and 60% of the nitrile elastomer, between 25 to 35% carbon black, and the rest includes other materials. The quantity of fluorine atoms comprises short-chain fluorocarbon chain molecules The quantity of fluorine atoms displaces at least an equal quantity of hydrogen atoms from the polymer chain when the elastomer body is fluorinated.

A gas barrier material comprising a polycarboxylic acid polymer, and containing 0.10 to 1.4% by weight of a monovalent metal element, at least not less than 5.0% by weight of a polyvalent metal element, and 0.01 to 3.0% by weight of a nitrogen element per the total weight of nitrogen and carbon. The gas barrier material exhibits excellent gas barrier property, excellent waterproof property after the bend working and excellent appearance on the surface of the coating.

The present invention relates to a resin composition containing 0.001 to 5 parts by mass of an antioxidant (B) and 0.00001 to 0.3 parts by mass of a conjugated polyene compound (C) having a molecular weight of 1000 or less, relative to 100 parts by mass of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A).
