The disclosed apparatuses and methods may be used to form a transaction card frame configured to house a data storage component. The card frame may be formed of a resin mixture comprising a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The card frame may also have a Shore D hardness in the range of 20-80.

A method for manufacturing a low-viscosity hardener is provided. The method includes the followings steps: providing a hardener crude product; and subjecting the hardener crude product and an alkaline catalyst to an isomerization reaction, so as to obtain the low-viscosity hardener. The hardener crude product contains 3-methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride and 4-methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride, and a weight ratio of the 3-methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride to the 4-methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride ranges from 7:3 to 3:7. A viscosity of the low-viscosity hardener ranges from 30 cps to 50 cps.

The methods include: applying a first layer of an curable coating that contains diamond particles to the substrate; curing the first layer with an LED light, and optionally also UV light or germicidal lamp; and, in the case of making a multi-layer coated substrate, applying an additional layer of the LED curable coating, which is subsequently cured with an LED light.

Additive composition and methods for using the same

An additive composition comprises a plurality of granules. The granules comprise a polymer additive selected from the group consisting of clarifying agents, nucleating agents, and mixtures thereof. About 75 wt. % or more of the granules present in the additive composition have a particle size of about 0.5 mm to about 2.8 mm, and the granules have a particle hardness of less than 50 cN. A method for producing a polymer composition utilizes the above-described additive composition.
