PREPARATION AND/OR FORMULATION OF PROTEINS CROSS-LINKED WITH POLYSACCHARIDES
Therapeutic compositions and/or formulations are provided, comprising: at least one cross-linked protein matrix, wherein the at least one cross-linked protein matrix comprises at least one protein residue and at least one saccharide-containing residue, and methods of producing the same. The cross-linked protein matrix may be derived from cross-linking a full length or substantially full length protein, such as tropoelastin, elastin, albumin, collagen, collagen monomers, immunoglobulins, insulin, and/or derivatives or combinations thereof, with a saccharide containing cross-linking agent, such as a polysaccharide cross-linking agent derived from, for example, hyaluronic acid or a cellulose derivative. The therapeutic compositions may be administered topically or by injection. The present disclosure also provides methods, systems, and/or kits for the preparation and/or formulation of the compositions disclosed herein.
POLYCATIONIC POLYSACCHARIDE AND APPLICATION THEREOF
A polycationic polysaccharide and an application thereof is disclosed. Specifically, the polycationic polysaccharide consists of a polysaccharide and a polyamine compound, and is a positively charged polycationic polysaccharide obtained by reacting a polysaccharide with an amine-containing or polyamine compound. The polycationic polysaccharide is applied in a biomedical functional material of an antibacterial biofilm, a biomedical device, and an antibacterial functional material.
Water-Enriching and Water Depleting Compositions and Methods
Compositions are disclosed for dewatering mixtures of petroleum and water. The compositions comprise one or more of the following: an unreacted polysaccharide component; and one or both of a polysaccharide component reacted with a hydrophilic component and a polysaccharide component reacted with a hydrophobic component. The compositions may also include viscosifying agents or stabilizers to stabilize the compositions against separation, for example, prior to use. In particularly preferred embodiments the invention is drawn to compositions for breaking an emulsion; such compositions comprising a carbohydrate component containing a cationic starch joined to a hydrophobic moiety, providing the carbohydrate component oil solubility. The composition may optionally comprise one or more additional demulsifier selected from, without limitation, salts (such as a polyaluminum chloride, an aluminum chlorohydrate, an alum, etc.), metal salts (such as iron and zinc salts), dithiocarbamate, tannin, and organic demulsifiers such as poly-DADMAC and similar compounds.

JOINT COMPOUND WITH SULFONATED STARCH
Provided herein is a joint compound having a composition to allow tools to easily clean up, comprising water, at least one inert filler, and a binder comprising a sulfonated starch, and a method of preparing the joint compound.

CHITOSAN-SUPPLEMENTED STARCH BIOAEROGELS AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THEREOF
The present disclosure provides bioaerogels comprising a quantity of chitosan combined with a quantity of starch. Chitosan supplemented bioaerogels are shown to have less shrinkage, less density, greater microporosity, and greater oil structuring capacity than bioaerogels that do not include chitosan. Such bioaerogels are especially suited for forming oleogels for food formulations.
