Integrated closure device components and methods

A lace tensioning device includes a housing component having an interior region, a first aperture, and a second aperture, and a spool component that is rotatably positionable within the interior region of the housing component. The spool component has a central cylindrical member and a lumen that extends through the central cylindrical portion. The spool component is rotatable within the interior region of the housing component to align one end of the lumen with the first aperture and to align an opposite end of the lumen with the second aperture to enable a lace to be inserted through the first aperture, the lumen, and the second aperture so that opposing ends of the lace are positioned exterior to the housing component. A knot may then be tied in the lace and the lace retracted to couple the lace with the housing component and spool component.

Compact Ratcheting Buckle Mechanism
20210045499 · 2021-02-18 ·

A compact ratcheting buckle mechanism which enables significant mechanical advantage can be used in a multitude of devices. The compact ratcheting buckle mechanism comprises a base plate which holds a ratchet tab and release tab, which are spring-loaded and held in place by pivot pins which pass through slots in the base plate. The ratchet and release tabs are then able to articulate. The ratchet tab teeth engage with a compatible ratchet ladder strap, which passes through the compact ratcheting buckle mechanism linearly when the ratchet tab is articulated. The release tab holds applied tension in the compact ratcheting buckle mechanism, and is substantially covered by the ratchet tab to ensure for a compact design and low chance of accidental release. The compact ratcheting buckle mechanism can be released through a defined pincer motion, disengaging both the ratchet tab and release tab teeth from the compatible ratchet ladder strap.

BELT BUCKLE

A buckle having an adjustable loop end forming a primary plane with opposing side walls. The adjustable loop end has a central bar positioned between a first strap opening and a second strap opening. A pair of slots operable to receive the terminal ends of the central bar are recessed into the interior surface of the opposing side walls with the bottom edges of the slots being longer than the top edges. A pair of tabs on opposite ends of the central bar extend outward from the central bar along a longitudinal axis of the primary plane and towards the second strap or belt opening. Optionally, a protrusion extends from a lower surface of the fixed loop end wherein the protrusion is positioned at a right angle with respect to a vertical axis of the primary plane.
