Ratchet belt system having interchangeable faceplates and method therefor
A belt has a strap. A detachable buckle is attached to a first end of the strap. The detachable buckle has a base. A cutout is formed on a front surface of the base. A removable is faceplate inserted and held within the cutout. A ratchet mechanism secures a second end of the strap within the detachable buckle.
SHOCK REDUCING BUCKLE AND STRAP ASSEMBLIES FOR GIRTHS AND CINCHES
A shock reducing buckle or strap assembly for girths and cinches includes an elastic portion in parallel with an inelastic portion. In a non-stretched, neutral position, the elastic portion is shorter than the inelastic portion by a predetermined amount. The assembly may be stretched up to the predetermined amount by overcoming the force of the elastic portion. Upon stretching the assembly by the predetermined amount, the inelastic portion comes in to play and prevents further stretching. A cinch or girth attached to a saddle utilizing the assembly holds the saddle snuggly while still allowing a predetermined amount of “give” or flexibility for comfort of the horse, expansion of the horse's chest during breathing, and reducing shock upon roping a steer or calf. The elastic flexibility is limited and has a “hard stop” limit whereupon the inelastic portion prevents any further stretching. The elastic strap is thus prevented from breaking.

DOUBLE-SIDED BELT BUCKLE
The double-sided belt buckle includes a chape member, a frame, a prong, and a loop element. The chape member includes a hinge element, a first side, and a second side. The hinge element and the frame are pivotally joined together. The loop element is selectively joined to the first side or the second side of the chape member perpendicular to the hinge element. The frame has two neighboring notches along a front section of the frame, respectively corresponding to the first and second sides. The prong is pivotally joined to the frame for running through a hole along another end of the strap. As such, the prong is detachable and the loop element may be fitted on the first side or the second side, so that both sides of the belt buckle may be the outward facing side, thereby enhancing the life and flexibility of the belt buckle.
