FIBROUS CELLULOSE, FIBROUS CELLULOSE DISPERSION, AND FIBROUS CELLULOSE PRODUCTION METHOD
The present invention relates to microfibrous cellulose capable of exhibiting an excellent dispersibility stability and an excellent coating suitability when added to paint.
To this end, the present invention provides fibrous cellulose having a fiber width of 1,000 nm or less and containing an ionic substituent. An amount of the ionic substituent in the fibrous cellulose is 0.10 mmol/g or more and 1.50 mmol/g or less. A polymerization degree of the fibrous cellulose is 150 or more and 515 or less. When the fibrous cellulose is dispersed in a dispersion solvent containing water and isopropanol to obtain a dispersion fluid having a 7:3 mass ratio of water and isopropanol and a viscosity of 2,500 mPa.Math.s at 23° C., and the dispersion fluid is stirred under predetermined stirring conditions, a viscosity change rate falls within ±50% as calculated by the following formula:

WATER-BASED COMPOSITION COMPRISING A FLUORINATED POLYMER
This invention provides for a composition particularly useful in a method comprising applying the composition to a surface to be lubricated, said composition comprising: at least one polymer (P) comprising a partially or fully fluorinated, straight or branched, polyoxyalkylene chain (R.sub.f) having two chain ends, wherein one or both chain end(s) bear(s) a hydroxy-, alkoxy- or acyl-oxy-terminated polyoxyalkylene chain free from fluorine atoms (R.sub.a), said chain comprising from 4 to 50 fluorine-free oxyalkylene units, said units being the same or different from one another and being selected from —CH.sub.2CH.sub.2O— and —CH.sub.2CH(O)O—, wherein J is independently straight or branched alkyl or aryl, preferably methyl, ethyl or phenyl and water.
Rheological Methods For High Block, Tack and Scrub Resistant Coating Composition
The present invention is directed to a coating composition or paint comprising a multistage latex with at least first and second stages, wherein the composition or paint is substantially free of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and capable of film formation even in the absence of coalescent agents. The base paint formulation is capable of being tinted at a point-of-sale (i.e. in-store) using a colorant composition of a type and quantity required to produce a paint of desired color and finish. The paints, show improved block resistance, scrub resistance and tack resistance. Rheological techniques as described herein may be used to determine tack resistance, print resistance, and other performance characteristics.
DRAG REDUCER AND FIRE-EXTINGUISHING AGENT
The invention provides a drag reducer having an excellent frictional drag-reducing effect on an aqueous medium and the like and also provides a fire-extinguishing agent including this drag reducer. The drag reducer according to the present invention includes a polyalkylene oxide aqueous dispersion that includes a polyalkylene oxide, aluminum oxide, an electrolyte, and water, and that has the polyalkylene oxide dispersed therein. The drag reducer has an excellent frictional drag-reducing effect on an aqueous medium and the like.
DIRT PICK-UP RESISTANT COMPOSITION
Water-based compositions that are resistant to dirt pickup, efflorescence, tannin bleed-through and surfactant leaching are described. The water-based composition includes a latex or water-dispersible polymer and a non-VOC UV-VIS (preferably, ultraviolet) absorber as a dirt pickup resistance additive. Methods of making water-based compositions including a non-VOC UV-VIS absorber as an additive are also described.
Acrylic/epoxy hybrid materials for laminating adhesive applications
A laminating adhesive composition comprising a) an aqueous dispersion of thermoplastic polymer particles imbibed with an epoxy compound wherein the concentration of the epoxy compound is from 1 weight percent to 40 weight percent, based on the total weight of the solid content of the aqueous dispersion; and b) at least one water emulsifiable or water dispersible epoxy curing agent selected from polyamines, polyamides, amidoamines, carboxylic functional polyesters, anhydrides, mercaptans, polymer captans, cyclic amidines, and combinations thereof, is disclosed.
AQUEOUS COATING COMPOSITION
An aqueous coating composition including: an aqueous dispersion (A) of a polyolefin resin that includes a polypropylene (A1); a crosslinking agent (B) that has a carboxyl group-reactive functional group; an aminosilane (C); and an organic solvent (D) with a water solubility of 0.01-5.0 g/100 g and a boiling point of 120-250° C.

A method for producing an aqueous dispersion of a fluorine-containing elastomer, which includes polymerizing a fluorine-containing monomer in the presence of a fluorine-free compound (1) represented by general formula (1): CR.sup.1X.sup.1═CX.sup.2—R.sup.2—COOM and an aqueous medium, to produce an aqueous dispersion of the fluorine-containing elastomer containing —CH.sub.2— in a main chain. Also disclosed is an aqueous dispersion of the fluorine-containing elastomer and a composition containing the fluorine-containing elastomer.
