HARD-PHASE-MODIFIED THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE

A thermoplastic poly urethane can be obtained by a process involving a reaction of a thermoplastic polyester (PE-1) with a diamine (D1), to obtain a composition (Z1) containing an amide (PA-1), and a reaction of the obtained composition (Z1) with an isocyanate composition (I1), containing at least one polyisocyanate, and a polyol composition (P1). The diamine (D1) has a molecular weight in the range from 50 g/mol to 700 g/mol. A process can produce such a thermoplastic polyurethane, and shaped articles can be made containing the thermoplastic polyurethane.

In an embodiment, a flexible pipe is provided. The flexible pipe includes a polymeric inner sheath that includes a thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) composition, the TPV composition comprising: a rubber and a thermoplastic olefin, wherein a concentration of the rubber is from 20 wt % to 90 wt % based on a combined weight of the rubber and the thermoplastic olefin, and a concentration of the thermoplastic olefin is from 10 wt % to 80 wt % based on the combined weight of the rubber and the thermoplastic olefin; and wherein the TPV composition has at least one of an air permeability of less than 30 barrers at 23° C. and a CO.sub.2 permeability of less than 40 barrers at 23° C. In another embodiment, a thermoplastic umbilical hose is provided. In another embodiment, a pipe structure is provided.

A method for producing an injection molded article comprises the steps of (a) providing a thermoplastic polymer composition as described above, (b) melting the thermoplastic polymer composition, (c) injecting the molten thermoplastic polymer composition into a mold cavity, (d) cooling the molten thermoplastic polymer composition, and (e) ejecting the injection molded article from the mold cavity. A method for producing a film comprises the steps of (a) providing a thermoplastic polymer composition as described above, (b) melting the thermoplastic polymer composition, (c) extruding the molten thermoplastic polymer composition through a slot-shaped die orifice to form a film, (d) cooling the film, and (e) collecting the film.

POLYETHYLENE FOAM COMPOSITION

The present invention relates to a polyethylene composition comprising a) a polyethylene blend comprising from 95.5% to 99.5 wt % low density polyethylene (LDPE) and from 0.5% to 4.5 wt % high density polyethylene (HDPE), wherein the wt % (% by weight) is based the total amount of low density polyethylene and high density polyethylene in the blend, and b) a mixture of glycerol-mono-stearate and glycerol-mono-palmitate.

The disclosed technology relates to an article, such as a hose, tube, sheet, film, or filament made from a crystalline thermoplastic polyurethane composition, wherein the crystalline thermoplastic polyurethane composition comprises the reaction product of a polyisocyanate component, a polyester polyol component, optionally a chain extender component, and optionally a catalyst. The article is produced by melt or extrusion processes.
