Co-cured fluoroelastomers with improved chemical resistance

Co-cured blends of fluoroelastomers of tetrafluoroethylene-propylene copolymer with cure site monomer and terpolymers of Vinylidene fluoride (VDF), Hexafluoropropylene (HFP) and Tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) with peroxide as initiator and coagent TAIC as crosslinker show improved curing performance, improved mechanical properties and improved compression set as well. The co-cured fluoroelastomers show improved chemical resistance to the solvent aging systems and better retention of mechanical properties after aging at high temperature in the solvents system.

Compatibilized polymer composition comprising a polyamide

The present invention relates to a polymer composition (C) comprising at least one polyamide (P1), and from 1 to 50 wt. %, based on the total weight of (C), of at least one functionalized polymer (P2), wherein P2 is a poly(aryl ether sulfone) (PAES) having at least one functional group (SO.sub.3.sup.−), (M.sup.p+).sub.1/p in which M.sup.p+ is a metal cation of p valence. The present invention also relates to articles incorporating the polymer composition (C) and the use of functionalized polymer (P2) as a compatibilizer in the polymer composition (C) comprising two immiscible polymers.

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer/lignin blends

A thermoplastic acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer/lignin blend is provided, whereas the blend comprises (i) an amount of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer; (ii) an amount of lignin; and (iii) an amount of compatibilizing agent capable of imparting improved ductility and impact strength to the resultant blend. Methods of improving impact strength and ductility of a thermoplastic acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer/lignin blend and articles made therefrom are also disclosed.

The inventors have discovered hot melt adhesive compositions that can be formulated to have a high percentage of environmentally conscious components and still provide performance over a broad temperature range.

The invention features a hot melt adhesive composition including from 5% by weight to 50% by weight of a styrene block copolymer, from 15% by weight to 75% by weight of a bio-based tackifying agent, and from 5% by weight to 40% by weight of an aliphatic plasticizer having a cyclo-aliphatic content of no greater than 1% by weight as tested by .sup.1H-NMR Spectroscopy, wherein said hot melt adhesive composition has an environmentally conscious component content of at least 50% by weight.

Polymeric insulating films

Insulating films suitable for use in magnet wire, electrical machines, and other applications may include at least one layer formed from extruded material. The extruded material may include a blend of a first polymeric material and a second polymeric material different than the first polymeric material. The first polymeric material may include one of polyetheretherketone, polyaryletherketone, polyetherketoneketone, polyphenylsulfone, polyphenylene sulfide, or polybenzimidazole, and the second polymeric material may include one of polyphenylsulfone, polyetherimide, polyethersulfone, polyphenylene sulfide, polycarbonate, or polyester.

MULTIMODAL ETHYLENE COPOLYMER

Method of making a microporous material

A method for producing a microporous material comprising the steps of: providing an ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE); providing a filler; providing a processing plasticizer; adding the filler to the UHMWPE in a mixture being in the range of from about 1:9 to about 15:1 filler to UHMWPE by weight; adding the processing plasticizer to the mixture; extruding the mixture to form a sheet from the mixture; calendering the sheet; extracting the processing plasticizer from the sheet to produce a matrix comprising UHMWPE and the filler distributed throughout the matrix; stretching the microporous material in at least one direction to a stretch ratio of at least about 1.5 to produce a stretched microporous matrix; and subsequently calendering the stretched microporous matrix to produce a microporous material which exhibits improved physical and dimensional stability properties over the stretched microporous matrix.

Polypropylene composition and thermoformed sheet thereof

The present invention relates to a polypropylene composition for thermoforming comprising: from 50% by weight to at most 90% by weight of a polypropylene A, wherein polypropylene A is a polypropylene random copolymer, based on the total weight of the polypropylene composition; and from 10% by weight to at most 50% by weight of a polypropylene B, wherein polypropylene B is a polypropylene homopolymer, based on the total weight of the polypropylene composition; wherein the melt flow index of polypropylene B is at most 1.0 g/10 min, as measured according to the method of standard ISO 1133, condition M, at 230° C. and under a load of 2.16 kg; and wherein the ratio of the melt flow index of polypropylene A to the melt flow index of polypropylene B is at least 80.

Resin composition, production method for resin composition, and molded body using resin composition

There is provided a resin composition, comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer and a nonionic surfactant, wherein the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer has an ethylene unit content of 15 to 60 mol %, and a saponification degree of 90 mol % or more; the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer is contained as a major component; and the nonionic surfactant is contained at 3 to 400 ppm. The resin composition is produced by melt-kneading a mixture comprising the nonionic surfactant, water and the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer. By using the resin composition thus produced, a discharge amount during melt molding can be increased and a molded article with an excellent appearance can be provided.

Fitment with blend component and flexible container with same

The present disclosure provides a fitment. In an embodiment, a fitment is provided and includes a top portion, a base, and a channel extending through the top portion and the base for passage of a flowable material. The fitment is composed of a polymeric composition. The polymeric composition includes (i) from 70 to 90 weight percent of a high density polyethylene (HDPE) having a density from 0.940 g/cc to 0.970 g/cc, a melt temperature, Tm, greater than 125° C., and a melt index from 1 g/10 min to 50 g/10 min; and (ii) from 30 to 10 weight percent of an olefin-based elastomer having a density from 0.860 g/cc to 0.905 g/cc, a melt index from 0.2 g/10 min to 50 g/10 min, and a Tm less than 125° C.
