Semi-transparent polymer composite comprising a linear aliphatic polyamide

A polymer composite includes a linear aliphatic semi-crystalline polyamide having on average 10 to 14 carbon atoms in the monomer units, or the compound thereof, an S glass fiber, and a core-shell impact modifier. The polymer composite can achieve higher stiffness and impact strength without impairing the transparency significantly. The polymer composite can be used as molding material.

Latent elastic olefin film laminates and methods of making absorbent articles incorporating the same

A latent elastic film laminate is provided including a film predominantly comprising olefin elastomers. The film is stretched and maintained in a stretched state in order to impart the desired level of latent elasticity such that the conditioned film laminate will shrink upon activation, such as by heating. The latent elastic film laminate can be advantageously used in the manufacture of various elasticated articles, including absorbent personal care articles, by activating the latent elasticity after attachment to the article and thereby shirring and elasticizing components to which the film laminate is attached.

POLYOLEFIN COMPOSITION WITH IMPROVED THOUGHNESS

A polyolefin composition comprising a heterophasic propylene copolymer and a polar modified -polyolefin.

PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING PARTICLES COMPRISING POLYLACTIC ACID

A process for manufacturing particles including a stereocomplex of poly-D-lactide (PDLA) and poly-L-lactide (PLLA), including the steps of: extruding a melt including 30-70 wt. % of PDLA and 70-30 wt. % of PLLA through an sc-PLA formation zone in a twin-screw extruder, wherein the formation zone is operated at a barrel temperature above the melting temperature of the PDLA and PLLA and below 220? C.; wherein the sc-PLA formation zone is followed by a finishing zone which is operated at a barrel temperature below 160? C.; wherein the finishing zone is followed by the end of the extruder which has a die-head resistance of 0; and recovering solid stereocomplex particles from the end of the extruder. The stereocomplex particles find use in various applications, e.g., in fracking fluids, as filler, as nucleating agent, in particular in the molding of semi-crystalline PLA, or as a starting material for the manufacture of sc-PLA products.
