CROSSLINKED PRODUCTS PREPARED BY IONICALLY CROSSLINKING A SOLID GRADE OLIGOMER AND A POLYMER USING AN IONIC CROSSLINKING AGENT AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
Disclosed herein are compositions comprising a crosslinked product prepared by ionically crosslinking a solid grade oligomer and a polymer using an ionic crosslinking agent. In some embodiments, the polymer is derived from a hydrophobic monomer and/or a gas-phase monomer. In some embodiments, the solid grade oligomer is reacted with a polymer comprising a hydrophobic monomer and/or a gas-phase monomer. The present disclosure also relates to methods of making the disclosed compositions. The compositions disclosed herein can be used in a variety of applications including, but not limited to, asphalt compositions, paints, coatings, carpet compositions, paper binding and coating compositions, foams, or adhesives.
ASPHALT COATINGS FOR ROOFING WATERPROOF MEMBRANES, WATERPROOF MEMBRANES INCLUDING THE ASPHALT COATINGS AND METHODS FOR MAKING THE ASPHALT COATINGS
An asphalt coating for roofing waterproof membranes is provided and comprises: from about 30 to about 88 weight percent (wt %) of asphalt; from about 0.1 to about 15 wt % of a low molecular weight (MW) polyethylene; from about 1 to about 30 wt % of a thermoplastic elastomer; from about 5 to about 48 wt % of an inorganic filler; and from about 1 to about 20 wt % of a softening agent; all based on the total weight of the asphalt coating.

Disclosed herein are compositions comprising a crosslinked product prepared by ionically crosslinking a solid grade oligomer and a polymer using an ionic crosslinking agent. In some embodiments, the polymer is derived from a hydrophobic monomer and/or a gas-phase mono-mer.
Sulfur asphalt in roofing, damp-proofing and water proofing
A sulfur-extended plastomer asphalt binder composition useful for water proofing, damp proofing and roofing applications includes elemental sulfur, a plastomer and an asphalt binder. The sulfur-extended plastomer asphalt binder composition can be applied to the surface of a protected member such that the sulfur-extended plastomer asphalt binder composition contacts, adheres to and forms a layer upon the surface of the protected member. The asphalt binder composition is applied at a temperature no greater than 150 C.
RECLAIMED ASPHALT COMPOSITION AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME
A method of forming a paving composition using reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and/or reclaimed asphalt shingle (RAS) is provided. The method comprises: a) providing a rejuvenated asphalt binder consisting essentially of bitumen, a block copolymer and a bio-oil, wherein the rejuvenated asphalt binder has a rotational viscosity at 135 C. equal to or less than 1000 centipoise, an original G*/sin at 64 C. equal to or greater than 1 kPa where G* is the complex shear modulus and is the phase angle; a G*/sin at 64 C. equal to or greater than 2.2 kPa after aging in a Rolling Thin Film Oven (RTFO); b) providing a virgin asphalt; c) heating the virgin asphalt to 160-200 C.; d) providing a RAP and/or RAS; and e) mixing the heated virgin asphalt, RAP/RAS, and the rejuvenated asphalt binder under conditions suitable to form the paving composition.
