Optical effect pigment comprising a plurality of layers and a magnetic element, the layers can be arranged in two stacks of asymmetric layers or in a single stack of layers and comprise at least an absorber layer and at least a dielectric layer and can further comprise a reflector layer. The magnetic element presents a magnetisation which is out-of-plane, i.e. predominantly perpendicular to the plane of the pigment, which allows a deposition on the printing substrate whereby the face of the pigment lying up or down on the substrate can be predetermined. Such effect pigment has applications in many fields and specifically in security printing, where due to controlled deposition for instance a double-stack pigment will produce a different optical effect on each of its faces.

The present invention relates to effect pigments which are based on flake-form substrates having a circular form factor of 1.2-2 and are coated with at least one high-refractive-index layer, and to the use thereof, inter alia in paints, coatings, printing inks, plastics and in cosmetic formulations.

The present invention provides a glitter pigment capable of simultaneously achieving electromagnetic wave transmission properties, a high reflectance in appearance, and a neutral color in appearance. The glitter pigment according to the present invention includes: a glass flake 1; and a titanium oxide layer 2 and a silver layer 3 formed in this order on the glass flake 1, wherein a product of the optical thickness of the glass flake 1 and the optical thickness of the titanium oxide layer 2 is 61000 or more and 66000 or less when the optical thickness is expressed in nm, and the silver layer 3 has a physical thickness of 35 nm or more and 55 nm or less.

Bright pigment, method for producing same, pigment-containing composition, and pigment-containing painted product

A bright pigment according to the present invention includes: a glass flake; a titanium oxide layer formed over the glass flake; and fine gold particles deposited on the titanium oxide layer or placed between the glass flake and the titanium oxide layer. The titanium oxide layer has a thickness of 150 nm or more, and a reflected color of the bright pigment is a blue to green color represented by a C* value of 15 or more and a h value of 150 to 300 in a L*C*h color system.
